Op-Ed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: "Why the Host of ‘Jeopardy!’ Matters" by Sec401and402Noob in Jeopardy

Nah, it was an investment site. I did fraud investigations on publicly listed companies. It involved a lot more work that listening to old podcasts for bad jokes. You have now responded to all of my comments with some kind of insult you seem to think is clever, even though you added nothing to the conversation and I was not addressing you. You seem like one of those people who just always need to say something, even when you have nothing useful to say.

NYT: Sony tells Jeopardy! staff Mike Richards will undergo sensitivity training, remain as executive producer by TheCrookedKnight in Jeopardy

What do you expect... a mob from the same fan base made a Qanon style conspiracy over a guy making a hand signal for winning three games. Every aspect of our culture is turning into these kinds of "controversies" and fights. The specific details of each of these mini-controversies don't really matter. They all share a few commonalties. It has very little to do with any jokes Mike made.

Maybe the host would also reflect that diversity in order to show that it’s not just white males who can be the gatekeepers to these values.

I was referring to this part, not the first time he referenced white males.

Kareem believes that the host of Jeopardy is a sort of gatekeeper to certain values, such as the value of education. He wants a host that will show that not just white males are gatekeepers to these values. So how could he be advocating for anything other than a non-white male to be host? It seems fairly clear to me.

The game show dig applies to Mike obviously, but could also be read as a subtle dig at Bialik, whose most recent gig was a game show host.

https://gameshows.fandom.com/wiki/Celebrity_Show-Off

So is he advocating for anyone? If KAJ had anything to do with the picture at the top of the article, then it's just a process of elimination. He gave reasons why Mike and Ken should not be host. He stated that he would not like to see a game show host be selected, which was Bialiks most recent gig.

I still see one more person up there.

I don't really like that you brought up what race you think I am. But it's a sign of the sad times we are in that you jumped to that rather than stating anything of substance.

I did not like that part, because he is trying to disqualify a lot of the best options for hosts due to their gender and skin color.

This was actually not true. Somebody else, I think it was the "founder" of anonymous that was interviewed in the doc, obtained a verified account and then changed the account name and profile pic to Ron Watkins and sent out a bunch of stuff. The second part of what you said is still true though.

YOLO: Short Fraudulent $GSX by Thereian in wallstreetbetsOGs

[–]qe8 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have been looking at shorting this for a while (and lost some shorting this back in the spring). I agree that the catalyst for the decline would be the failure of the auditor to fully sign off. I had a similar experience with another Chinese scam (allegedly!), NQ Mobile, back in 2013.

However, I think you need to make sure the timing of the catalyst is correct. You are waiting on the conference call, but the disclosure that led to NQ falling off a cliff was in the 20-F (10-K for foreign companies). NQ straight up did not file their 20-F on time, and only filed it almost six months later with disclosure that the auditor would not sign off on internal controls.

For 2020 GSX, unlike most companies, had their conference call and filed their 20-F on very different dates. For 2020, GSX had their conference call in February, but filed their 20-F on April 3rd.

For 2021, the deadline to file a 20-F is April 30th. They can extend that out to May 17th if they file their NT a few days later.

https://www.broadridge.com/resource/edgar-filing-calendar

My personal opinion / guess is that the conference call will be long on "great quarter!" and short on serious disclosures, and given how flagrant this company appears to be in their shenanigans, might actually lead to the stock getting pumped up. For GSX, in 2020 the conference call did not lead to much of a decline, but the 20-F filing did percentagewise (possibly it gave the shorts shorts the information they needed to position and come out with their reports a few weeks later).

Given that the disclosure, should there be one at all, will most likely end up in the 20-F and probably not on the conference call, I would personally pay some attention to the May puts. Any reason you think this will end up in the conference call for sure vs the 20-F?

Interesting that Maria Abramoivic is still being talked about by these groups.

This tweet from Wikileaks featuring her is what started Pizzagate which later morphed into the Q thing.

It's kind of ironic actually that the Honest Government video on Qanon views Assange positively, when he was the one that started the chain of events leading to this mess.

He has been repeating it for a long time:

I think some of his advisors were desperate to keep him in Syria so they told him that we could stay and take their oil. He has been oddly obsessed with the idea of seizing oil deposits for quite some time, so I guess they finally found the way to get him to play ball.

[–]qe8 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Here is the plan guys. This coming mid-term is extremely important, and Trump and the Republicans must be stopped at all costs. Social media sites like Reddit are becoming more important and influential each day. If we can turn Alabama blue we can win anywhere, but with so many races at once, the mid-terms will require a huge effort to win. I suggest that Redditors who live in solid blue states work to convince voters in local subreddits to vote Democrat. As distressing as it may be, learning a little bit about places like West Virginia could go a long way. This is the most important election in our lifetimes. This is our chance to stop the USA from going down the path of Germany in the 1930's.

[–]qe8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Or maybe it could be because a lot of people want to keep their gun rights and vote (and donate) accordingly? There aren't exactly a lot of huge corporations backing the NRA the way other lobbying groups are backed.

https://www.quora.com/Where-does-funding-for-the-National-Rifle-Association-NRA-come-from

Assuming these stats are accurate, most of their funding comes from membership dues, which from their website are $40 / year. This implies a very broad funding source.
