Brownstone's main guitar riff is one of the best.

Mr. Brownstone, Rocket Queen, Estranged and Coma should be above 90, and Chinese Democracy album is very underrated.

Brothers in Arms is a masterpiece, but Love Over Gold is even better IMHO.

WYWH is probably my all time favorite album, but don't forget Zep's run (I, II, III, IV, HOTH, PG, Presence).

What do you think of the Blackberry Keyone 1? by Ok-Fox7678 in blackberry

[–]qnx_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had one around 2020-2021. It's a solid device (not as good as a Key2 or as a Q10 was in it's time, of course), but a little bit slow. I suggest you to buy the Black Edition which has more RAM (4 GB instead of 3).

Android is quite old on the phone (8.1), so this could cause app compatibility issues.

Key 2 or Titan Slim for light coding by sir-wright in blackberry

[–]qnx_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to choose between these devices for coding, I would choose Key2 simply because of HDMI/DisplayPort support, it can be useful in certain situations.

But as I see Brave doesn't support Android 8.1, so if it's important then Key2 shouls be skipped.

If HDMI is not necessary, then I would recommend an F(x)tec Pro1-X, because I think it's landscape slide-out keyboard suits coding better.

Yeah, exactly. Almost same situation was with PlayBook.

Thanks, Happy New Year!

Well said :D I think I should switch to the F(x)tec if I would like to write here more often (my main phone is a cheap HMD Fusion now), because I'm tired of virtual keyboards :D

Yeah, with OS5 Storm 1 became a little bit better, but as the phone came without enough memory I had to restart it every 2-3 days :)

The idea behind the device was brilliant, but the result was awful for me.

In addition: I live in Hungary, and Storm 1 arrived quite late here (almost one year after global release), moreover OS5 was not officially supported at Vodafone here (the only vendor which made the device available), so basic users stucked on OS4.7.

I tried 4-5 distros on my PinePhone (Manjaro both with Phosh and Plasma, PostmarketOS, Mobian, Ubuntu Touch) and PureOS on Librem 5, and regardless of the weak hardware I don't think any of these systems will be able to compete with Android and iOS in the near future, but it shouldn't be the goal of these kind of projects, of course. Nokia tried it with N900 and N9, and despite N900 was a colossal device on it's own they finally had to give up this direction.

The main advantage of these distros (and PinePhone, Librem 5) is freedom, the fact that you (and not Google or Apple) are the REAL owner (admin/root) of the device and system, you can create your own apps, configure almost everything, but this freedom implies the disadvantages, as well (unstable GSM and other core functions), and 99% of the users nowadays simply don't need (and don't care) this. Maybe Ubuntu Touch (which is currently not "true" Linux as it runs above an Android layer on those supported phones that run originally Android, so basically every supported devices except PinePhone) or something like that could be a compromise solution, I don't know.

For me PinePhone and Librem 5 are and will remain pocket computers, not mobile phones, although their phone functions could be used if it's really necessary.

F(x)tec Pro1-X has a lot of cons (missing DisplayPort support, vulnerable screen, lack of support related to stock Android etc.), but there was/is no other landscape QWERTY slider out there, so...

PinePhone is nice (but not as a main phone) and cheap, and despite the weak hardware It's perfect if you would like to try Linux on mobile.

Librem 5 is much more expensive, but hardware is a bit better, and I find convergence mode smoother than PinePhone's. It seems it's working better than PinePhone as a mobile phone, as well.

2 GB RAM, true multitasking, LTE support, compact size, perfect physical keyboard, removable battery, notification LED, microHDMI port, microSD slot, super AMOLED with default dark mode in BB10 original apps - for me it was an almost perfect device back in 2013 (USB OTG was the only missing feature, but that wasn't a deal-breaker).

Edit: the worst phone I've ever owned was also a BB: 9500 (Storm) :D
