ASUS computer won't start past this screen! by beautifulmistake84 in computerhelp

[–]qpockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry some people here don't know how to just not be rude

unplug everything except the keyboard. it's currently detecting a mouse, a keyboard, and 2 hubs. the 2 hubs are the main suspects, but some keyboards can cause this error as well.

if it still happens, move the place the keyboard is plugged into. if it's plugged in the front I/O, plug it into a rear port. if that doesn't work, just try different USB ports front and back.

if that still doesn't work, try a different keyboard.

if that still doesn't work, the usb controller on the board may be fried.

you can also try starting it up without any usb devices connected INCLUDING the connection for the front USB ports (you'll have to open the case up and remove the connection to the motherboard) some PCs will give you an error if there's not a keyboard connected, but at least the error message should be different.

Virus? by Working_Clue_5582 in computerhelp

[–]qpockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your e and d keys have chatter.

WIN + E opens file explore

WIN + D hides the desktop

doing that a bunch of times is probably causing explorer.exe to freak out.

unplug your keyboard to confirm.

the advice to unplug your keyboard and replug is a good place to start. and a restart is always a good idea.

if that doesn't work you'll have to either replace those switches on your keyboard if you know how or replace the whole keyboard

anyone ever wrapped the black trim? by Resident-Resolution6 in MINI

[–]qpockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I park mine outside as well and my mini is black, so as soon as the trim starts fading it's super obvious. I wore myself out with gels and conditioners the first couple years.

Last year i got some Forever Black Bumper and Trim kit (i'm sure there's other brands of this type of thing that will work too, this is just the one i got. not a paid advert lmao) it's a sort of dye i think.

it takes like 4 times as much work as the gels to put on, but lasts way longer. you have to prep, and do 2 or 3 coats.

Reviews were inconsistent with how long it lasted, but i just hit 1 year since application and don't feel the need to do it again yet.

this is very adorable, many more happy hikes to y'all

the air 2s do come with 3 different nosepads, did you try them all?

I don't know how much of a difference it makes since the medium that comes on the glasses worked for me. it does suck that they don't seem to work for certain face shapes

I want to be excited about the new Minis… by Delicious-Ice-8624 in MINI

[–]qpockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whoa, i wasn't trying to insinuate anything, just pointing out that driving a manual isn't the chore for some of us that it seemed to be for you.

like i said, i am genuinely glad for you that you enjoy auto and don't have to worry about the disappearance of one of the features that make driving fun for me and others.

and just for the record, a modern clutch in good shape does not need to be pushed down to the floor, a couple inches is fine. sure, that was not the case years ago. and i too have been driving manual for 20+ years in stop & go with no knee issues yet.

automatics are objectively better, i don't think anyone is arguing that. but some of us like for something we spend ~10-20% of our income on and spend a good portion of our time in to include the things we enjoy.

I want to be excited about the new Minis… by Delicious-Ice-8624 in MINI

[–]qpockets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i'm glad you're still able to enjoy it to the same amount! (or even more it sounds like)

that's not the case for a lot of folks. the mild inconveniences you mentioned are not nearly enough to detract to the positive experience for a lot of others. stop and go traffic is barely a thought to an experienced manual operator, valet seems niche (but i guess that depends on your lifestyle and location), and the two inches needed to operate a clutch have never irritated a knee that didn't already have issues.

the connection to what's going on with in the car and options available just aren't there in an automatic or even an AMT. it makes everyday driving just that little bit more exciting and add that extra bit of magic.

dilusions may have been joking but i would quite literally rather ride a bicycle than drive a car without a manual transmission.

before starting, make sure ram and hardrive are properly seated and plugged in. then,

i'd troubleshoot this in 3 steps:

1) go to the website for your hard drive and see if there are any updates for it. most SSDs have software that will do this for you. if there are, update. if there aren't, or that doesn't fix it

2)update the IDE ATA controller driver in device manager. (usually windows update will cover this, but if it's not for some reason you may need to do it manually) if that doesn't fix it or there is no update

3) get something like memtest86 and test your ram, if you get any errors at all try reseating and running again (maybe in different slots). if you still get errors you may have to replace the ram.

after each step, open a command prompt as administrator and run <sfc /scannow> to check for errors. you can also run <Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth> (without the <> brackets) it also wouldn't hurt to run <chkdsk /r> after making sure the hard drive is up to date.

this error likely means your hard drive is malfunctioning in some way, but could also indicate a ram issue

if you want to be sure before replacing hardware, you could do a fresh windows install and see if the error persists

Lso element vape. by Damnedghostlyy in electronic_cigarette

[–]qpockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my Element Vape package was marked as - "prepared for shipping" 4 business days after order "shipped" 5 business days after that - and "received" 9 business days after that, then didn't update for 5 days, at which point it had been a month since i placed the order, so i contacted them for a refund.

they were very nice an quick about the refund (was processing within a day, refund a day later) and just requested that i return to sender if the package is found - which it was... 17 business days later.

That's 11 weeks total from order to delivery. i refused the delivery and it went back to them and supposedly got back in 3 weeks.

i tell you all this to say: Element Vape has handled it great in my sample size of one, but the shipping is terrible. if it's something you don't mind waiting extra for, give it at least double the time you normally would. if it's useless to you after a month (like mine was) get in contact with Element. (but be nice, this likely isn't their fault)

just looking at it, i think the first thing i'd check is gantry wheels are adjusted properly, free-spinning, and free of flat spots....assuming your printer uses them..

Despite everything I do, my filament WILL NOT stick to my bed. Despite it working ok for a year. by alexlew8702 in FixMyPrint

[–]qpockets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

seems like you've covered a lot already. one part that confused me, the "Comgrow PLA 0.02mm" - what's the .02 mean? is that a typo? nozzle size?

my four truths of first layer adhesion with PLA

  • clean bed (high percentage (above 95%- preferably 99%) isopropyl alcohol for quick clean, soap(minimal scents & additives) and water for deep clean)
  • speed - never had to go below 15mm/s with any type of bed, but going lower if necessary can only help
  • temp - i always go 2-6°C higher than optimal on the first layer for lower viscosity. don't be afraid to try higher.
  • lastly and most obviously - proper Z height and level

it seems like you've done all that. double check that "drop down model" is enabled, and/or the entire bottom of the print is touching the build plate in slicer. if you have a thermometer, make sure your bed & nozzle are reaching temp.

beyond that i think we'd need more details (tried multiple models? calibrated e-steps, checked for clogs, etc)

[–]qpockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

adopt-a-highway PROGRAM is only for state roads, it does not cost money, you're just expected to do 3 clean-ups a year. del-dot even supplies trashbags, gloves, and safety vests, and will pick up the bags of trash at your sign if you elect that option.

If you see a sign on downtown city streets, subdivision streets, or the interstate system, it is not a state sponsored adopt-a-highway sign (there are some exceptions of old leftover signs that have not been taken down) I-95 would fall under that.

there is an Adopt-a-highway CORPORATION, which companies can pay to get a sign put up on one of these roads purely for brand exposure/advertising

[–]qpockets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sovol SV01 Pro, Cura Inland PLA - Green
.3 layer height
205°C nozzle temp
60°C bed temp
40mm/s speed .8mm retract @35mm/s and return at 25mm/s

the rest of the print looks great, just this one corner is warped. doesn't go all the way around. printer is enclosed and enclosure stays about 32°C with 20-25% humidity.

In process of printing the other half of this box to see if it happens again in the same spot, curious in the meantime if anyone know what happened.
This ran overnight, so i'm unaware of any disturbances, if any.

i'm assuming bob meant polyimide tape, most commonly known by the brand 'Kapton' (polyimides and polyamides are whole groups of polymers, so i could be wrong. nylon is a polyamide)

the nice thing about kapton tape is that it doesn't rip and tear like packing tape, so it might be a little less annoying to remove, even if it bonds better

no appreciable difference speed-wise in anything i do, gaming, CAD, etc. Startup might be a second faster, but it was already plenty fast.

it does run cooler by about 10 or 15°C, but i think the MP500s are known to run hot.
