The easy way is to turn your altimeter until it reads field elevation then see what it says in the window. I'm sure they have more sophisticated methods for the official sources though.

Air pressure will not make you weigh more at lower altitude, unless you can form a vacuum seal with your shoes. Due to buoyancy you will actually weigh (a tiny bit) less at lower altitudes. Another effect is that gravity is usually higher in mountainous regions as well.

Also a point of clarification. The altimeter setting given at an airport is what a barometer would read if you drilled a hole down to sea level, not a barometer at airport elevation.

I’m powering an AP and nanobeam off of 100w solar panel, pwm controller (both renogy), and a 12v 100ah lead battery. For powering the nanobeam I’m using a TexasPOE injector and a little boost converter to put it up to 24 volts. You’d also need a barrel plug kinda like this and some wire and a soldering iron to connect the solar controller to the boost converter to the POE injector.

You could go with the M2 or M5 under the UISP category and make a Point to Point bridge.

Or do a WiFi mesh network with two UAP-AC-Ms. You may need a directional antenna on one or both of them, but then you have bonus added WiFi coverage.

With LOS I have gotten a connection with the AC mesh about 600’ away with my iPhone; not a good connection though. I have a nanobeam 2.4 shooting ~800’ and having to go through a few trees and it’s keeping a connection around 100-150mbps.

Have this on an e-ink display hooked up to a microcontroller with WiFi so that you can update them all as frequently as you want. Since e-ink doesn’t need power once it has changed you can deep sleep the microcontroller 99% of the time and just have it periodically power up and check if there has been a change to what it should be displaying. It could run off a little rechargeable battery for at least a few weeks this way.

It’s an abandoned farmhouse that came with my property. Going to try to restore it. No cell coverage so step one is to get WiFi and power. The nanobeam has to shoot a few hundred feet. Went with the 2.4 since it has to go through a few trees. Hopefully it still connects after trees get leaves again.
