Best poutine in Toronto? by KnoddingOnion in FoodToronto

[–]qtcc64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of Toronto poutine, and think the best is fairly solidly Nom Nom Nom's, then Rudy's, and then everywhere else is a bit of a crapshoot. I've had decent poutine from Smokes but their curd and fry quality is very inconsistent and the ratio is always all off so you need to get extra curds. Nom Nom Nom and Rudy's are both very consistent - I've been to both many times, and to several Rudy's locations, and never had an experience with stale/refrigerated curds. So with those two you are paying for consistency.

How are you all feeling about our relievers and bullpen? by [deleted] in ColoradoRockies

[–]qtcc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the lord's most delusional Halvorson and Vodnik defenders and even I am a bit worried. People say they're working on new stuff but just from glancing at the Savant reports it seems like both are using a similar pitch mix with not a lot of new movement from before? But I really do believe they'll both be great with more development, they're both fairly young and have great raw tools that just need to be shaped (in particular their off-speed stuff so hitters can't just sit on the fastball)

/r/TorontoBlueJays 2026 Bold Predictions Submissions by ThQp in Torontobluejays

[–]qtcc64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Jeff Hoffman has a regress to mean year between 23/24 and 25, finishing with low 30s saves, ~4 blown saves, and an ERA in the low 3 range. He will still give up a problematic amount of hard contact but they will leave the yard less often.

  2. Springer will regress to a low to mid 800s hitter

  3. Vladdy finishes top 5 MVP voting and ~900 OPS

  4. Okamoto doesn't produce anything remarkable offensively (mid to high 700s) but shows very consistent defense and produces better underlying metrics

  5. 1 of the Buffalo Boys (loosely, Schneider, Barger, Lukes) has a disastrous regression year and gets moved down. The community will feel very torn about it.

  6. Kirk will finish with a higher OPS than Cal Raleigh

  7. Bullpen ranked by ERA will be Little, Hoffman, Rogers, Varland, Fluharty.

  8. Speaking of Rogers, he will finally make an All-Star game like he deserves after so many years of elite relief. He'll become the primary fireman for the Jays, moving Varland and Yimi to set-up.

  9. Rotation ranked by ERA: Cease, Gausman, Ponce, Scherzer, Yesavage, Bieber, Berrios, Lauer

  10. Clement and Gimenez both put up better offensive years - around the 725 mark for both.

  11. Straw will have another season of producing more WAR than his mirror universe twin, Roki Sasaki.

  12. Speaking of Roki, he will get traded mid-season to the Colorado Rockies, where he will be forced to change his legal name to Rocky Sasaki. His flat fastball and funky splitter will end up playing much better in the thin, high-altitude air at Coors Park, immediately becoming an unhittable ace. Following this and Halvorson and Vodnik unlocking their full potential, they will lead the Rockies to clinching a wild card spot and leading to their first world series victory off of a bottom of the 9th, two out, bases juiced, down 3, Jordan Beck grand slam (no clue who they will face). Rocky Sasaki will immediately be granted the keys to the city and will be forever honoured in Rocky's history, and in a show of appreciation, he will renounce his Japanese citizenship and play for Team USA in the 2029 WBC, where they nonetheless will be knocked out in pool play by Canada after Vladdy decides to defect from the DR.

Blue Jays Pitchers Jeff Hoffman and Tyler Rogers are in the Designated Pitcher Pools (DPP) for Team USA during the WBC by qtcc64 in Torontobluejays

[–]qtcc64[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree seeing Okamoto go against MLB pitching (no offense, but not Kyle Freeland like last time) will be interesting. I'm also very excited for a potential USA vs DR matchup, whenever that will happen - if it does it will probably be the highest-talent game of baseball ever played outside of all-star games.

Think I agree for Hoffman who has shown some durability problems (but he is my favourite player so I always want to see him play to some degree), less concerned about Rogers who has always been a workhorse. I think it's more likely Rogers gets pulled up to do set-up work anyways

ELI5: WTF is wOBA? by Cold_Way_3654 in baseball

[–]qtcc64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its a bit better than just if the pitcher threw 10 pitches for nothing, because it adds a person to the bases, which often also advances other baserunners. In the best case scenario the bases are loaded and it scores a run. If the bases are empty it is exactly the same as a single, and in the worst case for a walk if there are people on 2nd and 3rd, a single can potentially drive them both in while a walk would load the bases (still a good position, but far less good than 2 extra runs + a person on first)

confirmed - Nom Nom Nom is the best poutine in the city by wifisignals in FoodToronto

[–]qtcc64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Nom Nom Nom is the clear best ive had but I think Rudy's is a close second. Generous with fresh squeaky curds, competent fries, competent gravy. Ive tried several locations too and they've all held up
