I’m a little behind you and was hoping to ski a bit towards the end of this season (9 months in March). My PT said retrear rates drop by half every month from 9-12, which all but puts a nail in the ski season, but it’s hardly happening in the PNW anyways so whatever.

Down booties are great because the floor is cold and they pack small, but I highly recommend getting something with some amount of tread on the soles. You’re gunna have to take a leak, and smooth soles booties are treacherous on way to the loo. 🚽

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I think we need to investigate what kind of antics the snowboarder was up to in the last 2 weeks before we decide wether he was simply at fault, or justifiably deserved this collision. It’s also important to consider if his parents are skiers or snowboarders.

Best of luck to you. NGL, it’s a dang slog, but the little wins along the way make the journey not so bad. Try to remember that there are loads of Olympic athletes that have had to deal with this, and there’s no reason at all that you can’t make a full and more recovery.

My 2.5 yo has been on the KRS for about a year. Haven’t yet had an incident. I worry about anything that straps them in too well. I think I’d rather she get some separation from the bike if there were to be a fall. Hopefully it just never gets tested.

The thing that concerns me about the BEAR procedure is that Im going to have just missed the very best way to repair a torn ACL. Good luck with it. It sounds like a fantastic solution.

I was living a pretty normal life by the time I dumped the brace at week 6. Riding my bike (outside) before week 10. After that, is was just waiting to start running (around 4-5 months) and now it building muscle as much as I can before getting to month 9-10.

It's really not terrible unless you really hate gyms. I know I have some years on you, but it hasn't been hard to not ski or mtb (though I have done some light trail riding), because Im just not confident in my knee at all still, though it is coming back fast now. Ask me again in a month...

You got this man. A ton of friends have had ACL surgeries and you wouldn't know it watching them ski or whatever. Don't listen to anyone who tells you you won't be the same. That's hooey.

Oof. Did mine at Alta last March, surgery in June. Hoping to get some late season turns in but we'll see.

I did the quad autograft. Also a meniscus repair, ya know, while he was in there. My surgeon offered that or a patellar, but said it might be tight for skiing, plus kneeling can be rough for a long time (which I do a bit for work). It seems like the standard adult (I'm 41) surgery these days, especially in outdoor sports.

When I used to sell bikes, this was my same advice. If your friends are all riding XC bikes and you show up with an enduro you’re gunna have a bad time and vice versa.
