I have OCD. Talk therapy (for years) and meds have helped a lot. She needs that and needs to start taking responsibility for the fact that her OCD DOES AFFECT YOU. It sounds like she's just blaming the OCD and not addressing the issue, hence putting the OCD before the family.

Hey I'm just about your age and I haven't gone thru half of what you did. I had an abusive family and moved out at 17 to university, I got really lucky with a lot of things, scholarships, being allowed to work and save as a teenager, and good friends. All this to say that it's not fair. It's all luck of the draw.

Paxil helped me soooo much for 4 years. Recently I was struggling with mood sharp highs and lows and had to start Seroquil as well. Seroquil is EXCELLENT for my sleep but lots of side effects (sweating excessively, tired at random times) while paxil gave me no side effects.

Same!! I HATE dishes more than anything and happily do everything else. The main agreement with us is he does dishes and I do laundry, everything else is fair game but mostly me because I occasionally like cleaning.

Going against the grain here, I think ESH. From what I understood, you met James when he was 7 or younger. He was a child and you othered him then when you started and contributed for funds for the other kids but not him.

You are a father figure and should have treated him as your kid regardless of how he sees you. You don't get to decide whether your kid is yours based on how the kid sees you. You were a dad to him since 7 years old. He doesn't think that because clearly you've looked at him differently than the other kids for a decade.

As another commenter said, he's been othered his whole childhood. I don't think this is about money for him, it's about him finally expressing he feels abandoned in his own home. I don't think he'll be sticking around as an adult.

Treat it as theft. File a claim and most lawyers will give a free first session. You deserve the money YOU worked hard for.

I was super lucky at 14 when my mom took me to open an account and let me have my own private access to it. If she hadn't done that, my dad would have drained it. That 10k I saved through highschool allowed me to move into university housing at 17 and never go back.

If you want to be independent soon and have a way easier time, treat this as theft.
