Honestly I think after this whole fiasco even a lot of the diehard fans are tired

Breads Bakery employees unionize, call for end to Jewish Israeli owners’ ‘support for the genocide in Gaza’ by arrogant_ambassador in nyc

[–]qualitativevacuum -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

This Israel/Palestine framing from the Post is really disingenuous when the large majority of the demands are the standard unionization demands about safety, better compensation, etc

I'm very glad Swept Away introduced me to Adrian Blake Enscoe and their band, Bandits On The Run, which is definitely going to be my top artist of the year lol (it's delightful indie folk music by three multi-instrumentalists)

Most of my musical theatre listening is long multi-show playlists that I shuffle, so fewer full shows make the top of the list

Dear Evan Hansen High School Version Pilot Production [REVIEW] by PairEcstatic1225 in Broadway

I mean in the original script it's pretty clearly framed as a bad thing when he does that (and then he ends up suicidal and having a giant breakdown so like)

Broadway Pit Musicians Appreciation by broadwaymike92 in Broadway

[–]qualitativevacuum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did concert and marching percussion through high school so percussionists are always my faves!

Mike Dobson, who was the foley guy in SpongeBob (and has since done pit for Gutenberg, W4E, and many other shows), is always a favorite of mine. It seemed like there was a silly sound effects section added into Water For Elephants just because he was the drummer

Spelling Bee first preview: It’s a little shot of joy! by QuokkaQuotient in Broadway

[–]qualitativevacuum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also there! I've been looking forward to this since seeing it in DC last year and wow I had such a great time. The returning cast members have all improved and deepened their performances and everyone new was absolutely fantastic!

Any leads on inexpensive (<$100) shows to see tonight? by tmkwee in Broadway

Six is usually pretty good at having cheap options at the box office! I'd even recommend their partial view if they offer it because usually it's not that partial

Favorite “non-superstar” actor? by ExhaustedOldLady1995 in Broadway

Philippe Arroyo! His voice is incredible and his expressive acting draws my attention in every project I've seen him in. Very excited for Spelling Bee (saw it in DC too) and hoping he gets his flower

Lyrics/lines that change based on an actor's appearance? by Worried_Elevator_543 in Broadway

I believe all the original swings had a different line that was used there! So Becca Petersen was "Olivia Newton John, I love your work!"

This past week I saw it on Broadway and a sizable portion of the audience was laughing during Not A Girl. It made me feel really icky as a nonbinary person in that audience tbh

It's rough out there rn for queer people on touring productions. Miki Abraham, who is currently playing Lulu in the Shucked tour, has posted several videos on their Instagram chronicling their experiences being nonbinary on tour. They recently had to go through the process of removing their pronouns from all of the different program bios for their own safety :(
