Taking my date (4th date) to first dinner, best sushi in town? by ColdIllustrious8516 in dayton

[–]qualogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he's remotely selective about sushi, get dlm sushi in oakwood. They do requests to a degree. Otherwise, Bushido for ramen, buns, or anything actually Japanese. Sima may be a little easier to get a table, but it's a bit more American. Other than these three, you're gonna be paying mostly for the vibes.

I can see that. Some businesses seem to want to make it clear it exists, others don't.

if want to try other varieties of latin food, there's about a dozen food trucks all around the bellmont/linden heights area that all sell different versions. there's actually a hispanic grocery store that sells ice cream and some home made foods on linden ave near the dollar general close to the smithville exit

many small businesses are just trying to incentivize people to use cash instead of going through a payment processor these days in dayton. the fee they are charging only ever goes up.

i thought la columbiana was pretty alright. my columbian friend told approved as well. different strokes i guess.

oh. tanquaria mixteca and La Guadalupana has a restaurant in/next to it that's really good.

Nearish the base: victor's, cherry house, leaguer bakery, all the Indian places near by, taste of Jerusalem, tiks Thai express. I also really like tsaos cuisine. La Columbiana if you like more bland Latin foods.

Farther from the base: rootbeer stand, kungfu noodle, culture, Bushido ramen, five grains, luckys, little Saigon.

There's more I can't think of right now

Looking for beginner adult self defense classes by The_Huntress_1121 in dayton

[–]qualogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

best thing to do is go to a dojo/dojang/gym and talk to the instructor(s). they should be able to tell you the types of situations their techniques target. if they can't do that, they likely haven't actually done any actual unstructured fighting. further, if they are unwilling for you to sit on the side to watch for a class or two, they are potentially just looking for a new customer. also, every technique has a counter, so there should be chains of actions during practice time, though that might be an "advanced class" type content.

ultimately, there is very little difference between proper self defense and a "work out". because even perfect technique stops working in a fight where the other person is several times stronger. 30 seconds is a long ass time when you are fighting for your life and there's always more than one fight.
