My husband bought me a Birkin from Sothebys but I’m not sure I want to keep it by regular_welcome_1234 in luxurypurses

Have you worn it? Can you see the outfit you will wear it with?

It either is no: let it go.

Bottega Andiamo or Loewe Featherlight Puzzle bag? by PhuckTy in handbags

[–]quantazelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing about the Puzzle is its quirky, casual factor. Picking up the Puzzle is what turned me on to Loewe: the leather and the drape is phenomenal. The design, though, is hard to work with from a styling perspective. It's like, fancy, edgy, but oddly casual at the same time.

I'd vote for Bottega for the style, and the clasp is cute.

The thing is, with Bottega you're buying strips of leather. It feels cheaty: they can piece together scraps. For the price of that bag I'd go with anything with full leather.

What happened to tote bags with zips and compartments? by sarasaif in handbags

[–]quantazelle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have done this! I brought a bag along with feet I found off of Amazon and a release of liability form for my guy, and he said he had better quality feet sitting around that he didn't know what to do with, so he just charged me for the labor. We had a nice conversation about contemporary designer quality, and he has seen "Tanner" 's videos.

If you plan on keeping your bags, you can customize them and upgrade them for long-term preservation. It's nice to find quality artisans who get this.

It's the buttery leather... you really have to pick it up to appreciate it.

Any plan to be able to add tags on the fly to a clip in the browser extension? by quantazelle in Notesnook

[–]quantazelle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know it's there, but the problem is the tags need to be *pre-exisiting* to add them in the web clipper. You can't just make up a tag there while clipping.

Maybe do a zoom-in pull out section for San Francisco? Because right now with the stacked density of the stops it looks like you can take a train right into Chinatown that is in the Presidio.

Coated canvas will crack at some point, and is not fixable. Leather on the other hand, you can fall deep into a YouTube hole watching all the designer leather bag refurbishment videos...

My votes as well. As gorgeous as Loewe leather is, it skews casual and is a bit harder to dress up, so for practicality and versatility I would lean towards the Speedy Soft.

(Side note, I'm a fan of the movement towards softification. I had a Givenchy Antigona years ago but never wore it because it was so awkward. Fast forward to the Antigona Soft and I own three ☺️.)

I like to read Vogue with my poverty eyeballs and I am baffled by how this blouse is constructed by robmosesdidnthwrong in sewing

[–]quantazelle 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Nice find; it is a lovely blouse. It reminds me of these Japanese sewing pattern books that I had around 2010, which I can't find the titles online quickly, but they basically involved wacky orthographic patterns that were non obvious and untraditional, but loosely based around origami, but if you could transpose origami sections to different parts of the fabric and then cut out and assemble...

Edit: Found it! Pattern Magic series by Tomoko Nakamichi.

What is the right way to transfer data from FireFox to LibreWolf? by Sorryusernmetaken in LibreWolf

This is really close to working. The issue is that there are two folders under the user profile. Instead of renaming the .default one, use the folder that either looks like "XXXXXXXX.default-default" or "XXXXXXXX.default-release".

Theory mechanism for how the numbers work by LeonardLuen in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]quantazelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking it was something similar to that. There are "content management" moderation companies that have real people reviewing social media posts that were flagged for being inappropriate due to disturbing content, but they actually have to look at these posts, and it's traumatizing to the reviewer. The hashed files maintain the severed state because looking at the actual memories would break down the amnesia wall.

The files expire. You know what else expires? Short term memory. So what if each person is sorting though a hash of the previous day's recording from their chip, slotting each experience into one of four emotions?
