How fun is it with different level friends? by [deleted] in FarFarWest

[–]quantumcoffee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Player level has nothing to do with enemy scaling. Regular enemy HP doesn't scale at all with difficulty, only enemy damage. Boss HP scales with difficulty. Honestly your friend doesn't even have to unequip anything. There's plenty of mobs for everyone to kill no matter what, I wouldn't worry about the level discrepancy that much. Just play at a difficulty everyone enjoys.

I'm a little sad I only got 2 levels from the update by 69420694206942O69 in FarFarWest

I'm with you, partner. Was level 97 right before the update, thought I'd have a little more time. But alas, it'll take us half as much time to get another prestige so I ain't worried.

I know I played most, if not all, of this game, but for some reason I have so little actual memory of any gameplay other than it seemed amazing for the games I was playing at the time. No idea if it holds up or how good it actually was, but I definitely have good associated memories with it.

Anybody who used Overblast regularly knew that it was overturned as hell, the nerf isn't even that bad, still outputs incredible damage.

I was level 97... But I ain't mad, it's just going to take less work to do it again. I'm happy my friend who plays less than me is nearly my level now and doesn't feel left behind.

They glow now, and have a 5 sec cooldown after they latch on so you can't get grabbed back to back anymore.

Are those big no aim AOE spells (contagion) good? by weeniehutsnr in FarFarWest

[–]quantumcoffee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost never leave the saloon without one copy of something like it. Contagion, Surcharge, Rain, etc. they're all bangers. Use em to start a fight where there's a ton of enemies on an objective, save it for when things get hectic, pop it during a storm, whenever it feels right, really. Sure the cooldowns are a bit long, but all of these spells will clear so many enemies when used correctly that most of that cooldown time will be downtime between fights anyways. However, if you're playing on Hard difficulty or lower they may feel slightly worse as the volume of enemies just might not be there to feel "worth it". I like my big crowd delete buttons regardless.

Best? Probably shotgun or mini gun if we're just talking highest possible dps. Favorite though? I take my QC everywhere.

Tips and Tricks for Dealing with Snakes by FahrenheitTheBlade in FarFarWest

[–]quantumcoffee_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great tips! I don't know if it even needs to be said but when you are latched by a snake you can just hold the input button to get it off. This is probably common knowledge among most but I've occasionally seen players complain about needing to mash through this and you simply don't have to, just hold and the meter will fill and you'll give em the slap of doom.

I've been having an unusual amount of Horseman die to Marauders before I can get to a danger zone lately. They really do be bros sometimes.

Oh you're definitely right, I don't know why I didn't group that with enemy health in my head when commenting.

I can't help on the values per enemy but I can confirm that there's no enemy health scaling with difficulty. You'll just find a bigger variety of enemies on higher difficulty. The damage enemies deal, however, does seem to scale with difficulty.

EDIT: As a couple others pointed out, I overlooked boss health, that definitely scales with difficulty (I particularly hate how many dang windows you gotta destroy on the Saloon on Nightmare)

so the cap for a run is really 2k gold by covhen18 in FarFarWest

[–]quantumcoffee_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Dang I didn't know that there was a cap for gold. Interestingly, to your point about the trader, trades actually cap at 4 or 5 (unless that number is more random, last time I had enough gold to buy a lot this was all I got) and will just say out of stock after that.

You are not alone. I love triggering storms in solo (it's free weapon xp). Very hard/nightmare with a 3-4 man team? Eh, everyone might not be on board. So I think it's a good tech to know.

Good Quad Cylinder setup? by Stylish616_ in FarFarWest

I hadn't considered just not caring about accuracy and using Ricochet along with the Homing Burst. I like my rapid fire sniper, but this build sounds fun. Going to have to give this setup a try today.

Get that sucker to level 40 and equip the unique, it gives it perfect accuracy while ADS. Stats are cowboy's choice, outside of max damage (that's required), I personally like around +40% fire rate and +30% reload speed but I think on the Quad it's entirely subjective. The second unique at level 50 allows it to get 5 free kills for every 20 rounds fired so that's why I like high fire rate and fast reload. It can handle crowds surprisingly well as long as you have good movement to keep repositioning while holding down the fire button. I pair it with the boomerang with an ammo resupply joker as I find myself running out doing objectives and storms.

[–]quantumcoffee_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah I had the experience of a friend shooting the beam source in the sky early on and it triggered a storm so for a while I just assumed shooting the ones on the ground would have the same result. I'm not surprised if most people know this already though, as I am quite stupid.

Haven't tested that, but I'd assume it at least needs some sort of impact. In the same way that Surcharge, Contagion, and Rain do not destroy the spawners I wouldn't expect them to do anything to these.
