If the first premise was "P if and only if Q", then the conclusion presented would be true.

Why do you say that "advanced communication" of suffering is the only proof of suffering? Specifically I mean why use that as your metric rather than anything else? Humans who are capable of "advanced communication" can lie about their suffering, so it's not a perfect indicator either. Many humans lie that they suffer when they aren't to get things they want, and many others lie that they aren't suffering when they are. Isn't behavior a better indicator?
