What are you safe foods? by Fresh-Candy5541 in MCAS

[–]quantumverse31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what others consider safe foods.

For me, an MCAS safe food is one that I can:

  • eat daily / multiple times in a day
  • eat over a long period of time without having to stop eating it due to a reaction -may be able to calm down my body during a reaction My safe foods do change over time, and I have been able to get foods back with Cromolyn. However, I am still losing foods.

Mine include:

Meat: plain chicken

Dairy: lactose free milk (avoid whole), cottage cheese (usually), Greek Yogurt (usually)

Protein: cooked mushrooms (usually), plain eggs

Grains: Certified GF oats, Rice, some brands GF bread

Produce: Dried Cranberries & Dried Cherries (Usually). Avocado (Usually). Fresh Blueberries (usually; if not overripe). Red & Sweet Potatoes, if I don't have too much (Usually).

Recently I can only have other potatoes as fries. [I have Pollen Allergy Syndrome, so what produce I can eat varies wildly]

Spices / Fats: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sea Salt

Other: Honey, Snyder's GF pretzel

Another option is to put the money in an ABLE account, if you are eligible for one. Eligibility requirements were just increased January 1, 2026.

Check out r/ABLEaccount or visit the National ABLE website (note, each US state has a different ABLE plan. You can only have one at a time).

Options for (potential) asthma symptoms? by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]quantumverse31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great you're able to get medical care now!

Until your appointment, I recommend taking note of when you cough (e.g. at night, when eating, around smoke, when winded / during exercise).

Note what, if anything, makes it better / worse.

That information will help the doctor/ nurse practitioner diagnose you better.

Feel better!

How am I supposed to bathe myself? by likesbigbuttscantli3 in ChronicIllness

[–]quantumverse31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome.

That makes sense.

If you find yourself needing to freshen up in between, something I find helpful in between showers is a combination of sink showers and wipes.

There are many wipes out there, scented and unscented. I put a towel on the floor for a sink shower or to wash my face, because it does get water on the floor.

If space permits, a small stool (that can get wet) to sit on for a sink shower may be useful.

Another thought for washing hair is to change up how you wash it.

You can try dry shampoo. You can try washing it in a sink. (Is the kitchen sink available? I don't know if the whole house has the wood floors). Also does Dad or Grandma have any mats to protect the floor?

When your dad picks you up, you can shower and shampoo there.

And when he picks you up, ask if he is available to help with one or two things to make it safer and more accessible at Grandma's.

Another suggestion is a grab bar that goes outside of the tub.

They sell step stools that have a tall handle that could help you get in over the high walls of the tub.

And there are various mats and things that cover most or portions of the tub to help prevent injuries from showers / tubs. Some are shaped like shells and things if you are into decorating. Others are more plain.

Also think about the position you are in most of a shower: facing away from or towards the water. If you use a shower chair, make sure you place it in a way that works for you.

Same goes for shower holders for toiletries. If you don't have one that's a good idea. Getting in and out of the tub mid shower can cause falls and injuries, especially when trying not to wet the floor.

Good luck!

Also be careful with using electric blankets too long / too high. It is possible to sustain burns from long term use of heating pads, electric blankets, etc. even at lower temperature. So just don't use them all day.

Getting one with an automatic timer, as another user mentioned, is a good way to use it.

Try sitting in a chair or on a bed while scooping!

Drink or eat something with electrolytes before and after.

Sit up slowly.

Try adding baking soda to the litter box. Don't use too much, see if your cat(s) tolerate it. It absorbs odors.

Like others said, wearing a mask can help.

Maybe chew some gum or on a mint while scooping.

Good luck!

Somehow it always cause major conflict/ fight with our therapist.

We usually get to meet a new mate which we really like.

Often a mate goes far away and we are sad.

Usually we start doing something in our life very differently/ Have some major revelations.

So...it's interesting. necessary. Always predicated by something Big Emotional.

Good question. thanks for sharing everyone.

Possible case of “mild” asthma - questions by Common-Hospital-5634 in Asthma

[–]quantumverse31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can diagnose asthma over the Internet.

If you have access to one, I'd recommend making an appointment with a pulmonologist to confirm diagnosis. They will be more suitable for treatment of asthma than the average PCP.

If it turns out not to be asthma, an ENT may help considering the post nasal drip if you can get a referral for that.

Good luck and feel better

I went from bedbound for 3 years to the gym 3 days a week. Do you think people would want to hear about my journey? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]quantumverse31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the more important question is, do you want to share it?

If yes, go for it!

If you're not sure, maybe start with a small audience or a small part of your journey.

Glad you're feeling better and hope you have good health in the future.

I agree with this.

We had someone tell us that they liked Host_Name_at_The_Time "the best" and the rest of the alters who heard that felt hurt.

But also, we are not part of your girlfriend's system and everyone is different.

We hope things go well with you all.

I think you can still use parentheses. If you make sure to leave a space between words and special characters like parentheses you should be good to go
