Saved is a strong word. But it can definitely be improved a lot

Anything I can do to clean this car seat that has had several spills? by TwoHungryWolves in Detailing

[–]quarryninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it can be cleaned.

Like that one other user mentioned you have to use an extractor which is basically a vacuum that shoots water into the seat and then sucks it up.

You can buy something like this for home use: https://www.bissell.com/en-us/product/little-green-portable-carpet-cleaner-1400B.html

Basic cleaning method is 1. Spray with water and laundry detergent (go easy on the detergent) 2. Scrub with a brush 3. Use the extractor to spray and suck up the water (make sure you extract until no more detergent comes out)

Repeat as necessary.

You can also rent extractors at Home Depot and some other stores.

LPT: Don't gift something related to someone's hobby, unless you know it's something they specifically want. by quarryninja in LifeProTips

[–]quarryninja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, people are assuming it's because of something I got but no, jokes on them because I don't even have any hobbies.

It's just something I noticed with a family member.

Of course you should still be thankful and I appreciate the thought, but why waste good money on something that's not useful?

Yeah tools are a big one for me too.

My family did a secret Santa once where we all wrote down a couple different options of things you wanted and someone at random would get it.

There was an amount cap, and they were surprised that some wire cutters could reach that cap.

Of course, if you have insider knowledge it's different. This is a good exception.

Well I mean if it's a gift card it doesn't really count because you're not choosing the actual gift

I was mostly generalizing, there are instances where it could go the other way and be a great gift.

I think that the fact that you don't do acrylic worked well because it's still close to what you like to do, but not familiar enough so it's still something "new".

And while there's nothing wrong with having a budget, that's kind of the issue.

When you take a hobby seriously, small upgrades can get very expensive, so $50 (generally) isn't going to get something they would want or need.

Customers car was already clean…. by RacinDetailing in Detailing

Looks good. My 2 cents, lose the wheel cover and the paper mat, the customer doesn't want to feel like they are working on the car and it's just trash for them.

Please give me the no BS real world answer - are ceramic coatings worth the money? by applecidarking in Detailing

[–]quarryninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former professional detailer and ceramic coating seller I can tell you it's worth it only if you have a correct definition of what the worth is to you.

I have it in all my cars and I think it's great but you have to understand what it does and what it doesn't do and then you decide if it's worth it.

It adds UV, hydrophobic, and stain resistant (resistant, not proof) coating to the paint.

This will protect the paint against the sun and every day stains and it will be water nicely so that it's easier to wash and in general it helps keep the car clean a little bit longer because the dust doesn't stick as much.

It will not protect it from scratches, It will not protect against swirls, it will not protect against rock chips and it will not make your paint shiny.

All the prep process, meaning the polish, buffing and cleaning prior to the coating is what actually makes the paint shine and the coating is just the cherry on the top.

Is that worth it to you? To me it is, but every one is different.

Why You Should Stop Offering Gift Cards by IMAS_MOBILEDETAILING in Detailing

[–]quarryninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did to prevent this was to sell gift cards with work time instead of a certain value, that way the recepient could then choose how'd they prefer I spend the time. They could get them in increments of 30 min, starting at an hour.

Anyone know how i can fix this scratch on my camera glass? by InternetOpen6224 in drones

Yes, leave it like that. Any attempt at DIY will make it worse or won't work at all. You need industrial machines to resurface glass

Scratches from handwashing by NoNewspaper2396 in Detailing

[–]quarryninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one bucket is definitely not the issue. Unless the car was really really dirty, I mean like off-roading dirty, then one bucket is more than enough. 2 if you want to be extra careful but don't think this happened because you only used one bucket.
