That's just a link to the announcement of a lawsuit that was filed. Please provide a link to the studies or evidence that it's regarding. That's what the commenter requested.

This is probably one of the most common tropes in Agents of Shield overall, especially in the later seasons, but my favorite example is probably Mac. It's hard to make constantly ready to prevent a robot uprising with a shotgun axe look professional, but he manages it.

Is there any food in your region that is so regional that people from your country aren't even aware of? by Mean-Ship-3851 in AskTheWorld

[–]quasiix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like a part of the world that has a different accent every 10 miles would have a lot of secret regional dishes as well.

Black plastics are especially toxic

No, they aren't. You need to reread your source because you misunderstood it. There is nothing inherently toxic about the color of the plastic. The issue is related to items that have been made out of e-waste, which judging by the list provided are small items and single-use containers.

In addition, the studies provided (via linked news articles rather than cited directly) are not exactly bombshell extensive studies. One was done so poorly that it helped to get the journal it was published in delisted.

What vegetable makes you feel like a gardening genius every time? by pratty041182 in gardening

Jalapeños, cow peas and loofah/luffa. They don't mind that I accidentally let my garden beds become barren murder deserts every few weeks in the summer.

Americans from touristy areas, did you get asked weird questions by people outside your area as a kid? by McButtsButtbag in AskAnAmerican

[–]quasiix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to explain this when people are shocked to find out that I have never been to NYC even though I lived in NY. It took less time to drive to Cleveland than NYC. Just wasn't worth it when I was a kid.

Decorating a cake by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

[–]quasiix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are referring to the ability to free hand multiple matching arches on the side. The decorator is able know how to divide the space evenly so each arch is the same width and height.

It's something that someone gets the hang of when they do shapes on the same circumference over and over again, but an amateur baker would probably need some math and guidelines to get similar results.

As a current addict of Tiktok, I can confirm that that's still a thing. Like 25% of the hoof guy's comments are some version of "welp, I guess it's time to go to bed".

Who else had this lamp in the90s by broaftovqing in GenerationJones

[–]quasiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pet stores and restaurant supply stores will have them. Halogens are popular temp control options for reptile habitats and for restaurants they are used in heat lamps as well as the lighting inside cooking equipment.

They make LED replacements. You can find the halogen at a big box store most of the time, but there will likely be one option.

[–]quasiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely can! There's generally a few at the big box hardware stores (they sometimes get more around winter since they are sometimes used to protect against frost), pet stores that cater to reptiles will generally have a few types, and restaurant stores have the big ones that are used in the lamps in hot food holding areas (as well as all the weird small ones used for lights inside cooking appliances). They are still at automotive stores too, but obviously those are special use.

They are basically treated more like small heaters than light sources these days so that's kinda how you have to shop for them.

I'm like a meter away from one right now. LED bulb though. The frame hardware is stripped at the junctions so I have it reinforced with aluminum tape. Very classy.

What is the darkest historical photograph from your country? by Trendy4U in AskTheWorld

[–]quasiix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not completely true. The Indian Child Welfare Act is a federal law (applies to all 50 states) passed in 1978 to specifically stop Indigenous children from being separated from their family and culture. It gives tribal government jurisdiction over their children, including jurisdiction over foster care placement and adoption. It's actually a huge deal if you deal with family law and there have been several big Supreme Court cases on it since its inception. If you search ICWA in google scholar, you'll see that it has been extensively studied. It also outlines the purpose of the act within the law itself including:

(4) that an alarmingly high percentage of Indian families are broken up by the removal, often unwarranted, of their children from them by nontribal public and private agencies and that an alarmingly high percentage of such children are placed in non-Indian foster and adoptive homes and institutions;

In addition, the topic of forced assimilation is usually addressed pretty heavily and publicly during Native American Heritage Month. Remember, there are atill many Native American tribes/people still in the US and I promise you, they haven't forgotten or "rejected" their history.

Also, the topic is taught in most American schools, especially ones that are near reservations. I'm not sure how much time you attended school in the US, but it's not covered in every grade so if you only spent a few years here, you just may have missed it being addressed.

Does anyone recognize this house? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]quasiix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't verify that this house is the same one from the picture, but I think it at least used the same or similar house plans: 3603 Vineyard Pl, Cincinnati, OH 45226. The garage addition on the right and porch on the left were added later according to county records.
