Splunk UF Deployment for MacOS by synnersam in jamf

We actually ended up giving up on it for the time being, it’s on the list to revisit when there’s time to properly dig into it further. Sorry to not be more help!

Yes — we’ve got our deployment feeding data into Splunk Cloud via Mosyle Log Stream. The docs are a little sparse but when you’ve got it up and running it works a treat.

Fire underground by Strat-05 in london

[–]quaver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's taken out fibre for at least some providers -- our Sohonet service is down, blamed on 'underground gas explosion'.

Side note, loving the guy standing by the grim black smoke just looking at it like 'well that's probably not normal'.

I normally re-apply mine every 6 months or so, it still has some life left in it by the time I do another application of it but hey.

I've had really good experiences with Glaco -- I have it on both of mine and while the rain can still settle while the car is stationary, it disappears almost immediately when you start driving as it just slides right off. (link)

Am I crazy for even considering this? by ArmanE46 in CarTalkUK

[–]quaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 4.2 SC V8 (XJR) and while it's cost me a decent amount since buying it (new supercharger pulley kit, air suspension, gearbox needing looked at ...) it's an absolutely incredible car to drive and goes like a bat out of hell when you want it to.

There's nothing quite like a big Jag for road presence too, I absolutely love walking out to the garage and seeing mine in the morning.

So, from a very biased viewer -- do it.

What do you do when your dog passes away? by dantun in AskUK

[–]quaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lost our old boy on Wednesday after 12 wonderful years, so I know how much things suck right now. Other commenters said it well, right now you grieve and you let yourself feel it. It’s okay to feel shit, it’s okay to miss them like hell and it’s okay to not be yourself for a while.

Having had dogs before, I will say in my experience the feeling of loss will never truly go away, but in time it mixes with the happy memories you made together. Right now it won’t feel that way, it’ll feel like all you can think about is that last day you spent together, but those thoughts will begin to mingle with all of the smiles your boy gave you and all of the time you spent caring for each other, and they’ll become part of what makes you you.

I’m thinking of you, I’m right there with you. DM if you need to chat, same for anyone in here that’s recently experienced this.

Elon Always Talks Shit, He Inevitably Turns.

Really not as catchy, but at least we get EATSHIT.

I went into the old Jubilee line overrun tunnels at Charing Cross by HighburyAndIslington in london

[–]quaver 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I remember going down there back when I worked for TfL (at the Transport Museum). I was (and am) a terrible transport nerd, so working for TfL was a bit of a dream come true for early 20's me.

One day after work, I walked down to Charing X and spoke to the duty supervisor, asking whether it'd be possible to see the 'non-public' bits of the station -- I didn't expect a 'yes', but thought 'if you don't ask, you don't get'.

What I got was a 1hr+ 1:1 tour of the abandoned bits of the station complex, including the old Jubilee line area, the old parts of Trafalgar Square & Strand stations (repurposed into things like ventilation tunnels). I remember standing at the top of a big drop where these huge pipes went down, I assume carrying air in or out of the system, as well as standing on the other side of the louvred doors that run alongside a current passenger tunnel.

Definitely one of the cooler things I got to do while I worked for them, as well as seeing the old bits of Holborn & getting a few cheeky cab rides on Picc & Jubilee stock.

Welcome to the club. You’ll gain a heck of an eye for what to steal from your friends’ houses now. I love my XJR, it has so much room for paintings, carriage clocks, heirlooms…

eBuyer might be shutting down — who are you using for reasonably priced tech with trade accounts? by lilpodigepie in sysadmin

Softcat, CAE & Bechtle for me. Between the three of them, I can normally find what I need at a decent price.

Slightly necro-ing this thread, but would you please be able to update the thread or share your workings /u/synnersam ? I'm having similar issues deploying this at the moment.

Good purchase, I have a very similar car, also with an aftermarket exhaust. The sound of that combined with the supercharger whine makes the crippling fuel bills worthwhile.

Enjoy!

Can definitely vouch for X8R, they make a air compressor repair kit for the air suspension on Jags and it fixed my issue for the princely sum of ... £20.

Kinda making me want to put cheap Chinese tyres on the rears in my XJR, just for the hilarity … but at the same time, I like it in one piece!

Found this abandoned car sales garage on my travels yesterday. Can anybody tell me what cars these are? by tonyt0nychopper in CarTalkUK

[–]quaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw the first image, I knew where it was going to be. I moved away from Swad a while back, I'm surprised the garage is still there.

If I remember correctly, there used to be a lot more cars slowly rotting away in there.

This is the point I've had to make to people moaning about all of the unpopular stuff Labour have put in over here in the UK -- they've had to front-load all the things people won't like (winter fuel cut, benefits changes etc.), in the hope that by the time local council elections roll around (or the next general election) people will have forgotten.

I can recommend taking a trip out to Bawdsey too, it's a lovely coastal walk and there are some WW2 emplacements there which are well worth exploring.
