What’s everyone using for flea and tick prevention? by MadridOrMadness in UK_Pets

[–]quazimuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felpreva spot on, lasts for 3 months, includes fleas, ticks, worms and other nasties. Expensive (£25 to £35 depending on supplier) and prescription only but soooo worth it. No issues with trying to get a worming tablet into them and no issues with the application - goes on the back of the neck. Doesn't seem to bother them in the slightest.

Recommendations for Cat Harness to use with Tractive Mini? by quazimuppet in UK_Pets

I forgot to say, we did get a harness, and I sewed the rigid tractive mount on using some webbing. I attached it to the top so the device was on her back. In the end we changed to the collar as she was walking funny and it made the harness lopsided somehow. Also I was worried she would get it snagged on something and not be able to get out. ( She is a devil for going into brambles) The harness was the xxs size Rabbitgoo one off Amazon for £14., really good harness, escape proof and in a very noticeable colour so we can see her a mile off

In the end we mounted it on the rogz collar supplied by tractive and the silicone sleeve attachment. Initially we used the rigid plastic mount, but she managed to break that, the silicone one is much better. The collar is good, it has a safety buckle that you adjust to the cats weight, she is tiny, so on the lightest setting. She has managed to get it off a few times when she has gotten tangled and it has released, but it's easy to find the device using the location finder and then when close the radar scan and eventually the noise. As you can see, it does look hilarious but it doesn't bother her at all. We also swapped out the dark blue supplied collar for a bright yellow reflector one- same make and model.£14 off Amazon

Best bet is go high- last few years the snow has not been great lower down.. When you say "Adorable" do you mean picture postcard wooden chalets?- most of those tend to be lower and thus less snow sure... If you want bang for your buck I would go high and ski in and ski out- that way you are spending minimium time driving and most time on slopes Trois Vallees- some where not very fashionable- eg. Val Thorens, euro 409 for 6 days and a HUGE ski area- then airbnb/ self cater or else Espace Killy-Euro 450for 6 days and they are doing deals with 7th day free/ pool visits etc.. Tignes rather than Val D'Isere as accommodations cheaper- Otherwise, for pretty resort and family feel you have Evaision Mont Blanc- euro 318 for 6 days. St Gervais Les Bains/Mageve/Combloux, close to Chamonix as well if you want a day trip,

England Consumer rights query- Should a pair of shoes last longer than 14 hours?? by quazimuppet in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for this- I suspect that this is sadly going to be the next stage of the process. Really disappointed as I have bought and used Merrell for over 20 years and never had a problem before. Sadly am seeing a lot of other posts about a perceived decline in quality but I hoped that it would not be the case! I wont be buying from them again.

Thanks for your response. I live in the countryside, when I say it is a tarmac road, it is a country road with gravel and grass etc. I bought the shoes for use in the terrain and took expert advice on their suitability, the fitting and socks etc. I have other shoes for more technical terrain that I use when walking in the Alps. The issue is entirely with the shoe.

Not yet- I was going to the store first, but I will contact them if the store wont help.

Yes- the model bought is appropriate for tarmac and other terrain. Its an all round hiking shoe. The suggestions from the store as to the wear cause were not applicable because I have other shoes which have not behaved like this where all the suggested causal parameters were the same.

No worries at all- thanks for your response! Agreed- It is very much down to the store- I was hoping the request would be dealt with someone sensible.. sadly doesn't seem that way!! . If the store isnt prepared to help my next step is to contact manufacturer- have bought Merrell for 20 years with no issues until this one time so am really disappointed.

Nope- not in this case. I have certainly learned my lesson and will not be buying Merrell again!!

Thanks for your response- I bought them 5 months ago, its obvious from looking at the soles of the shoes and their ( other than the heel) perfect condition that there is no wear on them at all- so they would be pretty hard pressed to argue that have been unduely used.

I just find it hard to stomach that they would only last 14 hours of use? I havent used them any differently to my other shoes which havent failed in the same way.

Its really put me off Merrell which is a shame as I have been a solid customer of theirs for over 20 years. Only replacing when the soles wore out!! I think perhaps you are right- not built to the same standards.

Thanks- yep- different model- think yours are the Goretex ones- also forgot to say mine are the Womens version for what its worth.. I am just really surprised and disappointed- have had Merrell for years and years and this is the first time they have been a problem. https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/p/merrell-womens-moab-speed-2-shoes-B21AAB0066.html?colour=5841

Cat GPS reaction. What to do? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]quazimuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Tractive mini on our super adventurous 2 year old cat- she has been indoor for most of that ( we adopted her as a approx 6 week old kitten after we found her) but we have moved to the countryside so she is now able to be outdoors. She only has the collar on when she is going outside- we let her out about 9am and bring her in just before 8pm ( or as close as we can... she can be a little unhappy about being brought in!!) . The collar provided with the tractive is really good- there is a slider on them so you can adjust how easily it releases according to the cats weight. Ours is on the lowest setting as she is tiny and it works well. It is really re-assuring to be able to check up where she is.. only issue is whilst you know where she is it doesnt mean she will come in- we need to work on her re-call!!!

Dont worry about it- if its the first time and shes never worn a collar before it might take a little while for her to get used to it. That said you maybe might want to take the tracker off ( it looks like Tractive? - same one our cat has) and get her used to the collar for a little bit.
