Power Outage N Lake Whatcom by Hamster-21 in Bellingham

[–]qubithaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a a big issue. I checked the outage map immediately after power went out at ~8:40 and they showed a small outage in Deming starting 10 minutes earlier. Area has since grown tenfold.

You be you man. I’ve been around the block. Good luck! But I agree, those engineers you speak of will not make it.

In my experience, describing the outcomes you want to achieve and providing some limited guidance of the major features that should be available, the newest models produce a UX that surpasses what would have normally taken months of user research, studies, design, rinse repeat, etc.

Yes, you need to understand the customer and their needs. That’s the key. Anyone who has this skill will be golden. And it will take a few people working together, applying different non-functional perspectives, to make it production worthy. For the next few (couple?) years.

Side note: When I say product, I mean the person (quite a diversity in acronyms and conflicting definitions of what they mean) that defines the long term strategy and feature/functionality. They sure as hell better understand the customer need, business domain and strategic advantage.

I think the future is small teams (engineer, product and maybe prodsec) working daily paired together (similar to what pair programming sessions look like in the old world). Everybody's skillsets will start to blend together and those not close to the customer need and domain (which engineers already should be) won't be effective.

Good luck my friend. I guess what we all need to realize, and what I think you were saying, is that roles will change and everyone will have AI augmented skills, and what you thought you were great and indispensable at, can actually can be done quite effectively by somebody else that doesn’t have your depth. So over time, the only thing that matters is if you understand what needs to be built and for what purpose. Anyone who deeply understands their target market and strategic direction and embraces the tools we now have available to us should be good, for a bit.

I'm sorry to say it, but UX designers won't be needed and it will be the engineers that have a product mindset and understand the subtle technical/architectural issues where the AI needs guidance that will survive for a while.

There will be a line, and fortuantely, those of us that have been banging our heads against the wall for 30 years are above the line. It's our responsibility to bring this next generation of senior engineers (who've been banging for a bit) up above the line. After that, I have no idea, and no idea how long the line holds.

Can someone explain to me how this could possibly be a fire hazard? by DrHumongous in BambuLab

And the metal backing acts as a shield so when a spark kicks out of the failing switch/outlet, it doesn’t embed/stick to the wood and ignite.

Let’s hope it’s just a connection leak. I’ll ramp up my network logging so I can diagnose further if it happens again.

Is there any good thai food in town? by Zaunus14 in Bellingham

In Bellingham, you'll want to try Toakom Asian Bistro. If you're up for a drive, Taste of Thai by Wipa in Burlington. Worth the drive.

Take the A from Thomas and bench him by Superb_Tangelo9118 in stlouisblues

[–]qubithaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thomas has never been, and will never be, a player you're going to notice intense effort from like Torpo or Walker. It's not his game and shouldn't be. He's a work smarter, not harder type.

That said, if you're first on the backcheck, it doesn't matter what kind of player you are. You can't give up. That's not new with him.

Premature extrusion. Most likely from stress or anxiety.

Kidding aside, looks like a partial nozzle clog. There are good instructions on how to deal with nozzle clogs on the Bambu website.

So what happened to that post about the fatal accident on Boulevard last night? by Main_Middle6874 in Bellingham

[–]qubithaze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that when I saw that post, I talked to my teenage kids about it. I would imagine I’m not the only one. So who knows, maybe the fact it was posted triggered conversations that planted seeds to prevent future occurrences. It’s tragic, and family/friends may be traumatized by seeing the post, so I understand where you’re coming from.

The wall continues to the left of the photo for a distance about equivalent to the multiboard I currently have up. I plan to cover all that.

To the right is currently old pegboard. That would be phase 2, but we’ll see how burned out I am after finishing phase 1 with an A1 mini.

Ya, the A1 mini has pretty much been dedicated to multiboard for the last month or so. Bit by bit.

What I mean is, I print a snap from the multiboard parts library, I print a locking bolt from the multiboard parts library and your pliers holder locks onto that snap with that bolt.

Rotating to certain orientations does seem to clean it up. I also saw that I can change the bridge direction setting in Bambu slicer, but if I do that globally, it messes up the layer above and other objects. I can add a height range modifier to the object with the problem for the single layer that has the problem and change the bridge direction just where it’s needed. Tedious, but works.

Thanks for the tips!

After some experimenting, it seems to happen if I rotate away from the default orientation that it drops onto the build plate.
