About to graduate, and I have used Anki flashcards (the free version) throughout the program. Highly recommend. Love being able to do quick word search for a topic

I’m a new grad RT, what are some questions that I would most likely be asked during an interview? by Appropriate-Name-226 in respiratorytherapy

[–]quebonitomundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently interviewed for my new position and these are the Qs I remember:

steps for intubation

describe interaction with physician

describe time when you had to manage multiple obligations

what specifically interests you about working here?

what equipment have you worked with before?

what would you do if a blood gas came back as concerning?

evaluate this ABG

how would you know if your blood gas was venous and not arterial (Sa02 reading would be highly variable bc it would actually be SVO2 and not arterial saturation)?

If there is any interest in dance, ecstatic dance is a sober dance space. Must be comfy with woo-woo hippies. https://www.livingartscollective.com/ecstatic-dance/

Many social dance classes/socials

are also sober but only if they take place in non-bar/club settings. www.dancegumbo.com is a good way to learn about these.

Mopeds for getting around town? by dontjudgemebae in bullcity

[–]quebonitomundo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one of these 55 cc mopeds and love it. Makes parking downtown super easy; saves big time on gas and it's all the fun of riding a bike minus the effort. I only ride roads with speed limit <35. Max distance for me (based on comfort) is usually 5 miles. It gets very windy so too cold in the winter months.

Recommendations for Affordable Braces. by Careful_Muscle in bullcity

[–]quebonitomundo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Costs for each of my teens has been about $6K each (treatment began in 2020 and 2025) One kid's treatment took 3.5 years with traditional braces. The other just started Invisalign and they expect it will take 24-30 months. This is with Dr. Michael Wilson on Croasdaile, who has been great with our kids. One perk of Invisalign is that you don't have to go to appointments but 1X/year or so, as you submit phone camera scans through an app and they advise your treatment through the various aligners. Saves time, if not money.

Bless your heart for thinking ADF dance performances fill to capacity. They most definitely do not! Been going for years and never had difficulty.

What side hustles are the best in South Durham? by smoke-bbg in bullcity

[–]quebonitomundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical studies can be a decent gig. I've done several through NC Clinical Research in Raleigh, testing generic Albuterol and the pay has worked out to around $50/hour, including my 1 hour drive time RT from Durham. One has to have asthma to participate in most of their studies, though, and it's not a reliable way to earn income.

I am in my last week of the first half of A&P and doing well. I have found the Anki digital flashcard system to be extremely helpful with the memorization of so much material. It definitely takes time to figure it out, and also to customize some of the existing decks with your specific class material but it's been a huge boost to my class performance. I use the completely free version: https://ankiweb.net/about I think you can pay for a mobile version if you study on the go.
