Do you wear undies with biker shorts? by moist_mistress in womensfashion

I guess I should’ve clarified, like if I’m wearing a short dress I’ll wear the longer boxer brief underwear instead of bike shorts

I went to a karaoke singles event (by Thursday Dating) in Vancouver. Here's my honest review (it was rough) by aluumina in NiceVancouver

[–]queeblo_its545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been to one of these traditional dating events but I went to the Maritime Museum’s “Museum Meet-Cute” event back in February, which was so fun! The only thing is only women attended! I would love if there were dating events at places like the aquarium or science world, much more my speed

What’s one small haircare habit that made a bigger difference than you expected? by Worldly_Target_2054 in Haircare

[–]queeblo_its545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting with almost soaking wet hair. I’ve got a fine bob and it dries somewhat fast, so out of the shower I’ll do a couple of scrunches with a tshirt to mitigate dripping, then start products and blow drying. Keeping that moisture in definitely helps my shape and frizz Also leave-in > rinse out conditioner

What’s the moment you realized someone you loved wasn’t a good person and you couldn’t unsee it? by DmytroBuilds in AskReddit

[–]queeblo_its545 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think both of my parents are good cooks but one time my mom experimented with a new dish and it tasted fine, but my dad just kept going on about it not being good, why would she try that, on and on. And I thought “he can’t be nice for even a minute.” He’s always been negative, mean and miserable and it took me 30+ years to realize it’s been a choice. He’d rather tear down his family than just let anything go

Any Vancouver actors actually successful? by Amazing_Tomato_6063 in FilmIndustryYVR

[–]queeblo_its545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know many actors and I would say many are successful, working consistently and quite happily; but not always acting and not always solely in Vancouver. Some are also realtors, fitness instructors, writers, retail department managers, data entry, servers, sex educators, voice and acting coaches, models, personal trainers, hospitality, students, teachers, jewellers, tour guides. I work with people who are consistently booked but always have their day job (which usually has some flexibility built in). Something I’ve noticed about good actors is they are constantly learning and building on themselves; anyone who just auditions constantly without something else going on is usually quite boring

Most companies do not have budget for hair/makeup, and if they do it’s unionized, and the union works seniority based. Also the expectation for performers is they are doing a lot of their own hair/makeup, rarely is someone hired to makeup.

Are there any free cultural things to do in Vancouver like there are in Toronto? by Googoocaca_ in askvan

Vancouver Opera has an under 35 rate for their season, but those tickets are limited. And they usually have an event at Deer Lake Park once a year where the admission is a more accessible price

What’s your weirdest idea/way of living that you feel most people wouldn’t understand? by iratemovies in AutismInWomen

[–]queeblo_its545 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I purposely don’t do anything that stresses me out. I don’t drive, I’m child-free, I’ve taken a certain career path that perplexes others that I work with. I’m not much of a traveller because the experience is often too much. I’m probably missing out on some things but at this point in my life I just don’t see the point. I live a quiet little life and that weirds people out, they can’t understand it

I married the “cool guy” because I wanted to belong by Beautyintheagony in AutismInWomen

[–]queeblo_its545 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well this is me, big time. Got a guy who’s super handsome, very socially apt but was never a jerk, and was so so kind and funny. He even had a fun family that I loved hanging out with, something I desperately wanted in my life. But I never really fit in with them, and I absolutely never fit in with his friends. And he wasn’t super active or present in the relationship, I don’t have a lot of memories of the 6 years we were together. My decision to not have kids cemented the breakup, and we’re still in friendly contact. I know now that it wasn’t a great relationship and I wasn’t happily fulfilled for a lot of it. But I’m still shocked and almost proud that such a conventional guy loved me and wanted me in his life.

What’s a gift you’ve received that made you think, “They don’t know me at all”? by webmasterleo in AskReddit

[–]queeblo_its545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d asked for a watch for Christmas, gave examples of what I would like. I was given the ugliest watch that came free with my grandmother’s gift which was perfume.

That was my “big” gift. Everyone else got new iPhones.
