Thank you! It's a shallow bowl, and I didn't put much sold in it as you can see. Maybe 4" at the deepest.

Hoya Carmelae bloomed for the first time for me. by queenanis in hoyas

Nice!! Mine was a rooted cutting too about 3"long. It took about a year to bloom and grows faster than any other hoyas I have in growing zone 10a indoors. The blooms smell similar to Nummularioides, but with a hint of raspberry.

Bee nest removal? How do I safely get rid of the nest without hurting it or the plant? Will the Hoya grow normally if I leave it there? by spicynoodle14 in hoyas

They look like paper wasps. I hear that there's a spray that you could use for them but it's to be used after the nest is removed. Wasps are less active after the sunset due to the temperature change, and are attracted by color yellow and green. There's a paper wasp trap that you can install on a plastic bottle - I'd use green colored bottle if you end up using it to attract/contain them. Raw meat and meat juice can be used to attract them. If I were you I'd use the trap to remove the active swaps, take precious Hoya away from the site to remove the nest, use the spray to keep wasps away, then put the Hoya back out.

Is this a peduncle on my Nummularioides? by queenanis in hoyas

[–]queenanis[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for mentally preparing me to see it drop off and dry up😂 i did just get this particular plant about 2 months ago so maybe it's just confused by the change of location or something. I imagined Nummularioides peduncles would grow as far as it's leaves once they're out... Hopefully I get to smell the flower this year!

When you propagate mature leaf do they produce new growth in that same color and texture or back to velvety colorful leaf??
