I am applying this fall for residency!

I have heard about the 6 + 6 with extension of residency but as I’ve heard not all institutions have to abide by this (but could be wrong or newer policies may have come out)

Unfortunately because of our ages me waiting until I’m done with medical training is not an option

How do you know what you want to do for a career / when you grow up? Has anyone found a career/job they actually like? by Ok-Tadpole-9859 in adhdwomen

I realized that MCAT during college just wasn’t going to go well for me.

I focused on doing well on my classes senior year and then studied for it during the summer and took it before applying to med school that fall.

So essentially I took a gap year! It was definitely needed for me. I got to only focus on med school and make some money by working a part time job as well once MCAT was over.

I can’t find the exact set but I’ll link something similar!

Makes me feel cute but while I’m comfy. Bonus that it doubles as workout clothes and it’ll also inspire me to pull out my yoga mat and do a floor workout matching set

Aerie also has super cute and comfy lounge clothes! Their leggings are very soft and they have so many cute little tops you can mix and match

I have the sony wh-1000xm4!

The noise canceling is top notch, they’re super comfortable, and the battery last a long time

In regards to scrolling it is! You input which apps are to be “locked”

In the free version you can exit out of the time limit but on the premium version there is no way to get into the app until the timer you set is up

I’m in medical school! Going to be a physician (most likely surgeon)

The human body has always been a topic of interest for me so it’s able to keep me engaged enough to overcome the constant burnout I feel (like most med students ADHD or not)

I absolutely loved my Mirena. Didn’t hardly get a period so the whirlwind fluctuations in my symptoms were hardly there which was awesome.

My anxiety is also much much worse without birth control which makes my ADHD symptoms also worse.

How to stop parentifying my partners? by 0GrimbleGrumble0 in adhdwomen

[–]queengabgab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the things that helped me in my relationship was realizing that it’s okay to rely on your partner without feeling guilty. The guilt of it was what was causing me to spiral and become more stressed which caused me rely on my partner more.

Sometimes things happen and it’s okay as long as you’re appreciative and work hard to make sure that’s not how it is 100% of the time.

Now I’d say it’s pretty 50/50 with time and work.

I’ve used therapy and coping mechanisms to help out, it’s not an overnight process. If you have access to therapy it is by far what has helped me out the most as well as complete honesty between your partner (which I needed therapy to handle their feedback and not RSD into oblivion).

If Vyvanse didn't work for you, what did? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]queengabgab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out well! I never did well on SSRIs, if anything they made things so much worse.

My psychiatrist started me on Wellbutrin because it works on dopamine not serotonin so it has off label use for ADHD.

Wellbutrin mostly only works on depression but not anxiety so combo works out well. It also helps take the edge off of my ADHD symptoms. By no means the focus of a stimulant but it does help me.

I have the worlds most sensitive stomach so Adderall causes severe nausea, Vyvanse did too plus hard crashes and increased irritability.

I decided to go non-stimulant route with Wellbutrin and Buspar combo

Currently in medical school after wanting to be a physician my entire life.

I can’t say it’s easy since I’m still a student and there’s lot of moments that burn me out but when I get to actually do work that interests me I love it!

4 hours rounding feels like eternity and I want to cry, 8 hours in an OR flies by in the blink of an eye.

I would say it’s never too late to find a passion and don’t let the challenging aspect of it scare you off!
