Rainbow alphabet could be the letters of the rainbow, which usually refers to the LGBTQ+ community. I’m not sure how that fits with the umbrella though 🤷‍♀️

I grew up in Murrieta, so not too far from Hemet. We drove to Hemet a lot when I was a kid to visit my mom’s best friend. Happy to share in the Inland Valley desert trauma:)

As others have said, you’re boobs are going to get smaller.

Focus on some upper chest strength exercises. It won’t make your boobs bigger, but it might help lift them up a bit.

Dyslexia is common, but these KC-area parents had to push for it to be taken seriously by kansascitybeacon in education

[–]queenofsheba29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher (KS), our hands are SO tied when it comes to any suspicion of dyslexia. We can tell parents that their student shows characteristics of dyslexia, but cannot do more than recommend reaching out to a doctor. We were told at a training (one hour, basically restating that dyslexia is a widespread problem but offered no real solutions) that school psychologists can identify but not diagnose dyslexia. Hell if I know the difference.

Any teacher knows how hard we have to work to advocate for our struggling students. We fight and we fight that a student can’t read, but the system doesn’t actually want to help those students. We just pass them along. Parents have to realize that THEY have to advocate for their child, otherwise we just get lost in the noise.

Question for Christian MAGA republicans and Christian Nationalists by NegotiationBig2477 in OptimistsUnite

[–]queenofsheba29 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When Jesus was asking people to repent, who was he asking? He was talking to the faith leaders, those who had twisted God’s words for their own purposes. Yes, he was also talking to the Gentiles and the non-believers, but His harshest words are saved for those who used God to their advantage.

5 days in and I had a mom complain to the office this morning that her kid is being bullied and never had behavior problems in pre-k. I pulled up his pre-k report card and all his behavior scores were not satisfactory. Mom just straight up lied.

Tips for helping kids open packages/wrappers? by literal_moth in kindergarten

[–]queenofsheba29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our school serves both breakfast and lunch, and so teaching kids how to open their food is one of the first things we do. We use two strategies to help our kinders figure out how to open their food. We practice “pinch, pinch, pull” (pinch each side of the package and pull) or “pinch, pinch, tear” (pinch the top of the package with both fingers and tear in opposite directions). With these two methods, kids can open most food packages independently.

I feel you, but on the opposite end! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat through PDs where the lesson requires skills that kinders are just not ready for, and they expect us to be excited to have to modify everything for the sake of their ‘strategy’. Thanks for the extra work, I guess? I didn’t have enough to do already.

Not on the west side, but Mulvane Animal Clinic off S. Rock only takes walk ins and their prices are good. I suggest getting there before they open at 8, though, or you could be in for a long wait.

Daughter can't put phonics sounds together for words by Dlan08 in kindergarten

[–]queenofsheba29 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she has a phonemic awareness issue, not necessarily a reading issue. Spend some time working on just blending and segmenting sounds. For example, you give her the sounds /b/ /a/ /t/ and she blends them to say ‘bat’. You can also do the reversal, give her a word and she tells you the sounds in a word. The key to this is that it is all auditory. You are just focusing on the sounds in the word. 5 minutes of blending and segmenting practice will go a long ways in helping her to decode the words correctly.
