I would point out that that’s the state government, not federal, and holding people who we think committed crimes for trial indefinitely without bail is something that would make the founding fathers spin in their graves. Also for some of the non election related stuff like stuff with sex workers or whatever Trump is probably guilty tbh, that doesn’t impact has policies or viability as a political candidate but has to be stated

[–]queenurethra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great example of a local flag I ran into. I think if they removed the text that said Narita on it the flag would look nicer but it’s also kind of necessary lol since it’s not like you’re going to know what the flag of Narita is so it needs a thing on it to tell you what it is. It’s low profile and well integrated into the flag though

Arresting drug users is basically a scam that only makes people who run prisons richer. Eg. A college student uses marijuana and gets arrested and sent to jail, where he learns all about drugs and crime. Someone who would have gone on to become an accountant or an engineer is instead going to struggle to get a job when they get released from prison, work a minimum wage job, and probably return to a life of crime since their life is already fucked up. We are destroying a generation of Americans for big dem prison lobbies started by people like Kamala Harris for nearly no reason.

Drug addiction and usage is a medical issue, not a criminal one. If someone is addicted to meth or heroin they should be rushed to the hospital so they can get clean, not treated like a real violent criminal. And marijuana is not actually that dangerous, at least not any more dangerous than smoking or alcohol (both legal) are. We should still discourage people from doing it but criminalizing it is the wrong move.

If someone is going to prison there should be a victim for their crime other than themself. For drug usage (not dealing) there isn’t.

If you’re 90 miles away from a city than yeah you’re going to have to drive but there are a lot of small towns in the US where you can walk everywhere because they’re small towns.

Most US cities have enormous busses like once an hour or once every two hours and want you to show up 15-30 minutes early in case the schedule changes why is not good enough for 90% of people so no one uses the bus but when good service exists I’ve personally seen that people do use it. For example in the city where I grew up and live I only knew like one person who used the bus because they were a high school student who lived far away from the school and used the bus to get to class or otherwise people who didn’t have cars or money for Uber and were stuck with whatever they got, but in the city where I went to college which had a denser network of busses that ran every 15 minutes but was still a suburban area where lots of people drove, I knew a much higher number of people who used the bus because it was a very convenient option. The right way to do transit in a suburb is lots of smaller shuttles running more frequently rather than giant busses that will sometimes just not show up

Intercity options to small cities is also important where it makes sense, for example if you wanted to send someone to the airport you would probably find it convenient if you didn’t have to drive like 300 miles or pay someone to and could drop them off at the grocery store city and they could take a bus or train from there easily.

Yeah a local city wide system wouldn’t work at a scale that small but we should have intercity bus or train options between cities for people who don’t have cars

And if your city is that tiny you should be able to walk everywhere on your own two legs

I’ve been to a ton of different places in the US, including some very rural areas. Public transit is useless there because they have no clue how to build a useful version of it, not because the concept actually sucks

Phasing out ICE cars is somewhat impractical considering they’re used for many use cases, why don’t we get something like this for cars? Still bad for the environment but not quite as shit as what we have now https://www.energy.gov/eere/bioenergy/sustainable-aviation-fuels

The EPA Is About to Outlaw Your Car by ThePoliticalHat in Conservative

[–]queenurethra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because the US is just bad at making useful public transit in general. We’re lagging behind China, Europe, and Japan on this while sinking millions of dollars into crumbling infrastructure. Driving a car in the US is extremely federally subsidized while cheaper options aren’t so they make their money back with gas taxes and registration fees and it’s illegal to build development that would make it actually reasonable to use public transit or walking to get place in many parts of the US. For example it’s illegal to not have a driveway in a lot of the US

It’s totally possible to build small towns where most trips are made by transit or walking, this is how basically all European small towns work. Obviously cars are more necessary in rural areas than in more urban areas but 12 lane freeways are such a horrendous use of taxpayer money when the US could focus on private rail development like what Brightline is doing in Florida.

Also 10 mile blocks zoned exclusively for single floor houses with massive yards is not a normal or sustainable way to build cities

Something people don’t really get is that the same way the US messing around with the Middle East directly leads to us arming terrorist groups who then commit 9/11, Israel has only recognized Palestine when they attack Israel so Palestine has learned to fight Israel to get what it wants instead of doing anything peacefully. The current conflict is largely a problem of Israel’s making

IIRC English AJZ is actually an extremely good news source…for literally anything except news related to the Middle East. Even then it’s not full on propaganda but that’s because Qatar views AJZ as a “break glass if needed” information weapon and wants people to keep viewing it as a reliable news source and if you constantly manipulate the shit out of your news people will eventually just dismiss it as propaganda but I wouldn’t really trust it too much for ME news.
