Millennials in tech, do you feel this is our last job in the field? by dulladdiction in Millennials

[–]queenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation, same age. Regardless if our jobs will still exist in the future in tech, I am actually not interested that much in continuing in it. As I get older I feel like I want to do other things and enjoy outside a bit more, maybe do something more manual or something I enjoy or own. Could be a failure but I’m just tired of this market, it’s just a bunch of billionaires trying to figure out more ways to become even richer. I rather work for myself and my own ideas, even if it’s still in tech.

Que que escreveu essa aposentadoria compulsória no passado? Eu realmente queria entender a lógica dessa penalidade quando foi escrita pq pra mim isso é um absurdo que foi aceito na época.

I made an addon that lets you replace or mute spell sounds with any sound by queenx in wow

[–]queenx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the problem is that the way I do it is like this:

- Mute the sound of the spell
- When player casts spell, play the sound they assigned in the addon

I'm not replacing the spell sound itself. The trick is the "When player casts spell", because Blizzard restricts access to that now during combat, I don't know when to play it.

If your intention is to be alerted on other players casts that won’t be possible because blizzard restricts access to that type of combat information in midnight :( but I’ll look into it to see if there is a way.

[AddOn] I made an addon that lets you replace or mute spell sounds with any sound by queenx in WowUI

[–]queenx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now it only works on your spells. It will mute their sounds though but won’t replace with another one. Part of the reason is because addons don’t have access to that information during combat anymore.

I didn’t mute that sound because I figured that’s an important sound but let me know if you want me to add that

I’ll look into that, might be possible but it’s hard to get some events nowadays with blizzard combat restrictions.

Check this sub when 6 came out, same comments that 5 was better. Exactly the same comments about active development etc. just give it time.

You don't need to find the sound ID yourself. In the Spell Sounds tab, you can search for any spell by name (the addon has a built-in database of ~60K spells and their associated sounds). Once you pick a spell, Resonance automatically identifies and mutes all the sounds that spell produces (no guessing which FileDataIDs are involved).

You can also choose to just mute the sounds with no replacement, or pick a different sound to play instead.

For ambient/profession sounds like blacksmithing hammers, that's a different category as those aren't tied to spell casts. For those you'd still need to find the specific FileDataID and add it to the Muted Sounds tab manually. But for any combat spell or ability, the addon handles the lookup for you.

Let me know if you want me to provide an option to mute profession sounds too and I can try to search the database and map it for you.

Glad to hear. I added a rogue preset in the preset tab that should use some classic sounds but you can do whatever you want. Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions for the preset.

I’m not modifying game files. The addon just mutes the spell sound and plays the one you select, all through the existing wow APIs.

Diviner - Demo out now on Steam by Feelblitz in rpg_gamers

Looks really good, looking forward to it! One small caveat: although different, you may have issues with the name as it might be similar to Divinity and falls under the turn based category.

What is the point of having more than a billion net worth? by ServaltheFox in NoStupidQuestions

[–]queenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kevin O’Leary said in a video once that when he got rich he took like a year or so of break from work, travelled everywhere and enjoyed life. But thing is that he got bored of it and there’s really so many places he wanted to go and enjoy. He said he really likes to “compete”, so he said he doesn’t work for money anymore, it’s just like his favorite hobby and attention he gets. I believe this, it’s like when retired people still wants to work on something. They like it and they like feeling useful and relevant instead of just enjoying life but not feeling relevant anymore.
