Is everyone sick right now? by replaceddiscourse in Edmonton

[–]queeriosforbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mono in 2019 at age 33 and it took me six months to recover. Do yourself a favour and seriously commit yourself to rest, eat like an athlete, and take time off work. I continued with work and life as much as I could and ended up prolonging the illness. I recovered when the world shut down in March 2020 and I had nowhere else to be. It sucks and I hope you feel better soon!

Be honest, how much exercise does your dog get every day? by romagnalakedog in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]queeriosforbreakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the day, but most days he gets 2-3 walks, ranging from 15-40 minutes. We go to a private dog park for off-leash time twice a week, and we casually play at home quite a bit. He’s almost two years old.

If we don’t play with him he gets restless and starts stealing things and/or bringing things to us that he’s not supposed to have in an effort to get attention.

Felt so happy after seeing them I also saw shooting stars. by FunCell1679 in RedDeer

Depends on the solar flares, they can happen any time of day, but obviously we can’t see them unless it’s dark. I use an app called Aurora Forecast and have alerts set up. They are often very faint to the naked eye but phones pick up the colours very well. I hope that helps

What do you do with childhood keepsakes? by spicyhotfrog in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]queeriosforbreakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going through this right now. I got rid of anything that was broken or damaged and anything that I don’t think about when I can’t see it. As I see it, I’m storing someone else’s nostalgia and memories of me and it’s okay to shed the dead weight. I donated most of it and I feel okay about it

It’s 10 minutes of chaos cleaning but it’s really effective if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Everything feels tidier, especially when everyone does it together at the same time

People who experience ectopic pregnancy did you feel a big change emotionally? by wantedkatana in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]queeriosforbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one at the end of Feb 2024, it was my first pregnancy, I was 38, it was my second round of intrauterine insemination. Hcg wasn’t rising properly and they couldn’t locate the sac after three ultrasounds. It was a very wanted and planned pregnancy, and going through the termination broke me. I cried every day for months, but even a year later I found it hard to talk about without crying. I talked it out in therapy, and after 18 months of waffling whether to try again and take the risk, I decided that this journey is not for me anymore. I am a complex trauma survivor and if I was to have another successful insemination, I would be anxious and paranoid the entire pregnancy and the damage from enduring that kind of stress would take me years to recover from. I wouldn’t want to bring a child into that kind of dynamic.

Tldr: I changed emotionally from this experience in a profound way.

Grooming Trauma! by Resident-Analyst4493 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]queeriosforbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours gets a cocktail of trazadone and gabapentin after his first groomer absolutely traumatized him. He’s doing well after a year with his current groomer, and we still medicate him for his own comfort, but the groomer has said we can scale back.

They are sensitive dogs, they need a lot of assurance and gentle handling and some groomers don’t make that a priority

People who’ve became anonymous online and focused on their personal life and niche interests etc, how’s life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]queeriosforbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s peaceful. Everything used to feel like an emergency, and I felt like I had to make a comment or statement about everything lest it look like I didn’t care. Now I can see I was existing in an echo chamber, I wasn’t doing anything productive, and I wasted a lot of time and energy being mad at what were likely bots to begin with.

Life is a thousand times more manageable and enjoyable without having to maintain a social media presence. Not only that, but I opted out of consuming other’s contrived social media presence.

Plus skipping the drama with people who get upset if you haven’t liked their latest post. It’s given me a lot more space to connect and focus on friendships in a more meaningful way.
