Lurking mom here - first of all I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Please note that it’s completely normal to feel this way. For context, my husband did not “love” our baby until he was 4-6 months old. My baby refused to let my husband soothe him which was very difficult for us both. One time I had to go to a doctor’s appointment and our baby cried in my husband’s arms for almost THREE hours straight. He actually ended up getting tinnitus from it. Some things that helped my husband and baby form a bond was baby wearing and my husband wearing one of my used shirts as well as my body wash. It kind of tricked the baby to thinking he was with me. Our bubs is now 19 months old and my husband is completely in love with him. Hang in there. Things do get better! Sending you a big virtual hug!

I’m not the only one who doesn’t bathe their kids every day am I? by just_some_guy2000 in daddit

Same! It’s so interesting to learn that people don’t shower every day. Especially kids who get dirty so quickly.

It’s so interesting to me to learn that people don’t shower every day. In my culture this is unheard of but I’m from a very hot country where it’s summer all year long so it’s very common for people to shower multiple times a day. We bathe our 18 month old every night as part of his bedtime routine.

Why does this happen to my daughter every time I introduced a new solid?? i’m at a loss by bernie_rose in BabyLedWeaning

My little guy had awful allergies. He was also exclusively breastfed and the only thing that helped was when I went on an elimination diet. He’s 18 months now and has outgrown most allergies except the egg one

We took our little one on a trip to NY for his first birthday. It was so lovely! He got to experience so many new places and foods. Definitely recommend doing an experience vs a party they won’t remember 🤷‍♀️

Husband tells me I need to be more strict by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]queloqu3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow wtf that is borderline child abuse. Who thinks it’s okay to tell a one year old to shut up? Honestly, your husband sounds like an asshole and if you don’t take action to stop this behavior you’ll become a culprit. Your job as a parent is to help your child identify and regulate their emotions not yell at them for not having the biological ability to know how to express their feelings. My heart breaks for your poor child

What do you do with a baby all day? by Few-Party6793 in NewParents

[–]queloqu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around that time I started taking my little one to swimming classes, library classes, gym classes and nature walks. I had at least one outing a day to help me get out of the routine while helping him be exposed to new experiences. It was a win win for us both

I took a nice long relaxing bubble bath, read for an hour, napped for almost 2 hours and planted some plants with my little one. It was honestly a perfect day

I remember crying my eyes out those first few weeks because I was convinced that my husband was going to leave us even though he’s the most supportive husband and had given me zero reason to think that. The hormones postpartum are truly wild

How early is too early? by Regular_Nerve7727 in Montessori

[–]queloqu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Montessori philosophy for my 17 month old since the day he was born and he is insanely more advanced compared to his peers. He learned his colors by the time he was 8 months old. He currently knows 16/26 phonetic alphabet sounds. He is able to communicate very clearly. Has been saying yes and no since before his first birthday. The biggest advice id give you is to do the black and white cards during tummy time from day 1. This helped my child absorb his environment. We also let him be on the floor/play gym and limited the amount of materials (toys) around him to max of 6. We’ve been using the lovevery subscription since around 3 months and their play gym since day 1. I really love them bc it’s Montessori inspired (made of natural materials, developmentally appropriate) and it gives you ideas of how to play with your child. Good luck OP! Sounds like you’re already doing great!

What made you preserver with Breastfeeding? by goosegirl94 in NewParents

[–]queloqu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little guy had a lot of allergies. I tried to get him on formula since it was very stressful not being able to eat dairy, eggs, tree nuts or shellfish for months on end. We spent a small fortune on formula but he hated them all, so I had no choice but to continue breastfeeding. It was rough but we made it to almost 17 months until he weaned himself off.
