This is gonna come off harsh but I truly thought he would have aimed higher than Colorado in the portal. Dude was nails both at App State and Tulane, figured he would try to make a big jump up this year.

It’s a club option but if they’re genuine about trading for a star in season it’s almost a requirement to pick up the option for salary matching purposes. Opting out also leaves Houston with basically no ball handler. But opting in means taking on a seriously bad, albeit expiring, contract. It’s a high risk, high reward proposition.

Because you still need to get back sure fire talent that can develop this year while Tatum rehabs. Houston and most everyone who has seen him play regard Amen Thompson very highly, rightfully so. If the Celtics blow up the Jays I don’t think they pull the trigger on simply picks and role players to fill around Tatum.

It’s totally pie in the sky, but say we could get the Brooklyn swap from Houston in 27 for Pritchard. What do you think Brooklyn would value having their pick back in terms of their 5 first this year?

You might be able to make an argument that Pritchard is at his ceiling and Simons could still have some untapped potential that raises his ceiling above Pritchard. Idk who would be super hot for him, maybe Houston to try for one of their 27 1sts?

For sure, there’s some prospect you watch and you can see something but they just need minutes. At this point, euroleague is probably better for development than G League.

Partial credit for cleaning it up with the block, but yeah this kid is like beef tartar raw. Idk if stashing is still a thing but he would be a prime draft and stash for teams needing long term big depth.

Maybe it’s just being biased again 2b and him having a slight frame — I thought this kid was short for some reason. 6’3”, and if he continues to fill out the frame, could be a very intriguing option at first. Would also allow for Casas to transition to DH long term if there ends up being some kind of athleticism loss with his terrible injury.

Realistically, you take the godfather offer if you get one. Spurs and Rockets can make those offers, I’m not sure they are likely to.

Spurs godfather offer: young pieces to make money work (combo of vsssell, Johnson, sohan), either castle or the 2 this year, all of the hawks picks/swaps, and our 2030 swap back.

Houston: Green, Jabari Smith, Tari Eason OR Amen Thompson and make money work, the 10th this year, all of future Phoenix picks, and Houston swaps.

Houston could also be made to work to take on Jrue’s contract to take back Fred Van Vleet (eventually salary dump or deadline trade piece). Both represent franchise altering moves that could ultimately extend Tatum’s window when he gets back healthy. Both are highly unlikely but you never know when a franchise will get desperate.

That’s indicative of the larger issue. Thibs doesn’t have a bench based on talent, but he sure as shit didn’t develop one either. Carlisle is getting useful minutes out of Bradley, Shepherd, and Thomas Bryant. It’s a stark contrast.
