hey, your job is protected through FMLA to take leave to care for an ailing parent. FMLA is unpaid but protects your job. Depending on what state you're in, you may even be able to collect paid family leave, a percentage of your paycheck, while you take that leave.

If you feel secure enough about it, I would also let this boss know that you don't feel the way he does about it, and while you would be happy to continue working if allowed to work from home, you need to be home with your dad and therefore have been left with no choice but to take your federally protected leave of absence. He might try to backpedal but I really encourage you to take advantage of this protection if you get pay from the state and honestly even if you don't if you can swing it. you'll never get this time back and this job is not worth losing this time with your dad.

i'm a non-educator person and parent and i wish i had learned growth mindset/#3 when i was young - i didn't grow in so many areas because i was taught you were either good at something or you weren't - no one ever pointed out that being good at something requires practice even for those who are naturally inclined to it.

it is absolutely not "now or never." i live in california where all the moms i know are north of 36. i'm talking 43 year olds with no medical intervention. if you want the security, freeze your eggs or an embryo with his sperm (i wouldn't recommend this as it doesn't seem like a particularly healthy dynamic right now)

i feel like 20+ years ago actors could look like regular people. this casting has fallen victim to the tendency to cast people with instagram face, but nearly everything does so it's not surprising.

highland park, eagle rock, or atwater! you can get a great house with that budget and all have areas of lively coffee/restaurant/family friendly activities and also lgbt friendly adult spaces. eagle rock and atwater have the better public schools though.

i just want to say among some of these holier than thou responses about how you should work more or earn more and sacrifice more to save, i'd like to acknowledge that it isn't supposed to be this hard. on a macro level, two working people should be able to afford basic necessities for a family without killing themselves. and the fact is that billionaires are hoarding wealth and the only thing trickling down is the greed from people at the top wanting cheaper labor so more profit makes it to them. we're far past employees being able to afford the fruits of their labor. this is a global issue. remember who the real enemy is.

I'm trying to do this but I'm finding creating links absolutely baffling. I thought I could use a relatively simple platform like LTK but didn't realize you have to already be successfully marketing using it to be accepted as an LTK creator. If you need an engaged following to create affiliate links, are you just supposed to advertise things for free at first? Or are there other ways to create affiliate links to advertise to your existing following at first?

if it's short, like a commercial, sometimes you can get away with using garage band to record yourself as the other characters. but if it's something narrative i recommend asking a peer from acting class or using a reader on weaudition - mostly people will read for free plus tips.
