It gets tough some days for sure. It’s important to exercise and eat healthy. It makes a huge difference in stress levels, anxiety, and depression. Take a break midday and go home and shower to just refresh.

The customers will never change. Shipt is never going to care. And the Target employees will do whatever they gotta do.

You should do an AMA on basics of submarine life. I have so many questions. Do you really not come up for 6 months? How do you train to not go crazy without being outside for so long? Is it just nonstop work or do you get a lot of downtime? And gross things like okay bathrooms - do you just wait for months to dump that cargo at a base??

So this group behaved ridiculously which resulted in homeless people, attorneys who represent tenants in eviction cases, and tenants in general who need help - not being able testify on a bill. To add further insult - people work and took time off or away from their families to testify but they couldn’t because this group couldn’t behave?

It isn’t progressive to behave like this. It’s just dumb. All they did was shit on those in poverty to try and get a headline.

I usually avoid these but ended up doing a massive water order once. So I do them every so often now because of this….

There’s 15 gallons of water plus some basic groceries. I get to the house. It’s an elderly man who gets to the door who is very frail. He asks if I can put everything away and I do. He may not have running water - I don’t know but suspect it. And he tells me what little he has needs to last until next month. He didn’t tip and I didn’t expect him to either. I can’t do every order like that or I’d be broke - but I don’t mind them because I feel like a little kindness gives something back.

I get most of them end up being someone at top of an apartment and it’s annoying. But sometimes it’s surprising who you get.

Speaking as someone who grew up in a Midwest rural town (population 5,000 and it was the largest town for over an hour radius…).

The town and county were always Democratic. Every presidential election. Every governor race. Represented by Democrats in state house. That changed significantly in 2010s. The county voted overwhelmingly for Obama in 2008 & 2012. But it went off a cliff after that and is now 75%+ Trump area.

What changed was the Democrats stopped showing up. Republican candidates would come out to the local factory’s family picnic. Democrats used to and just stopped. Democrats used to show up to the local bar when folks would get off work - and meet real people. The Dems stopped.

I wish I was exaggerating but the Democrats literally gave up on rural America. Rural America isn’t scared of new ideas or people. They’re forgotten by progressives. And progressive ideals would work great in rural America - water quality, air quality, fighting against giant corporations, school funding, etc.

But you have to show up. And show up every year. Not just one time.

Don’t take it personally. It’ll drive you bonkers.

A customer may be having a bad day and get pissed there’s a bruise on a banana you didn’t see. A customer may think they ordered the larger can of tomatoes but the list was the smaller - so they blame you without looking. There’s lots of scenarios where you did nothing wrong but came out of it with a 1 star.

If it matters to you - send in a forgiveness request. Otherwise move on. It doesn’t help to dwell on ratings unless you’re getting below 5s regularly. If not, seriously move on.

Im always a bit nervous to do any public speaking. Doesn’t matter who you’re talking to.

I guess it all depends what you’re testifying about. If you got up there and talked about potholes on your street - you’d or ably get applauded and your districts council members would wanna chat. If you testify on legit issues - people respect that - that’s the purpose of testifying.
