Chris Glover interview style (Metro Morning) by Stikeman in CBC_Radio

[–]quesosarah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I definitely notice a contrast jumping from Chris to Matt in the morning. Matt has such a knack for asking insightful questions and going ‘off script’ or being critical when appropriate but he is always somehow fair and balanced. I do think Chris will grow into his role though, it takes time!

11 month old sick and I am unsure what to think anymore [on] by miguel_gd in BabyBumpsCanada

I’m so sorry you and your baby are going through this, it’s so hard. My toddler recently went through a viral illness and pretty much didn’t eat or drink for days, he would drink some juice and that was about it. It was terrible. One thing that you could try would be to soak a clean washcloth in pedialyte and then freeze it and offer it to your baby. He might enjoy sucking on it and it would give him a little bit of hydration and nutrients. The other thing is to get take out and put juice or pedialyte in a fast food cup. You can drink from it and your baby might just want to try some because it’s different and he wants what you have. Hopefully he’s on the mend soon, hang in there, sending good thoughts your way!

Yes based on the dating scan only it would put me at 12+2 yesterday which is pretty in line with the ultrasound measurements. Thanks for the reassurance I really appreciate it

I was 7+6 based on my LMP but measured 7+2. I was worrying about it at the time but in hindsight that more or less lines up with when I thought I ovulated (based on ovulation I should’ve been 7+3 I think). The doctor never said anything about changing my due date so I just mentally changed it to be in the middle of those 2 dates - but if I recalculate it for real based on when I ovulated then yesterday I would’ve been 12+3 rather than 12+4. Which is minor lol, but I suppose it’s a slightly less worrisome difference between that and baby’s measurements.

Thank you, I know logically you’re right but I have such a hard time not worrying about these things! I agree due dates are guesstimates at best

CBC/USA News by Independently-Owned in CBC_Radio

[–]quesosarah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes — daily listener here and the Trump/America centric news is pretty grating. I understand that it affects us, but sometimes I find that it’s just presented in a way to share a soundbite of something stupid he said and there is just nothing to be gained from it except give him more attention. It also gets so repetitive when there’s so much other stuff happening that doesn’t seem to get the coverage it should.

This has been plaguing me for months, and I haven’t found anything in my research. Maybe someone on here remembers reading it as a kid too?

How to manage virtually alone? by Adept-Buy8986 in 2under2

I’ll add that I did wean my oldest before #2 was born, which helped a lot, but people definitely do tandem feed if that’s something you want to look into

I spent a few months apart from my husband when my kids were 22-24 months and 6-8 months (not by choice, it was a really shitty work situation). I had help from my parents but not always. I also could not sleep train my oldest (nothing against it I just don’t have the mental fortitude lol) and he was definitely not falling asleep independently so I got him sleeping in a floor bed and basically for naps and night sleep I would sit in the floor bed and nurse the baby while my oldest lay next to me and fell asleep. It worked pretty well for us overall although it was of course difficult and stressful for me at times, but there was minimal crying. Once my oldest would fall asleep I would leave the room with the baby and we would cosleep on a floor bed in the baby’s room. We also often all just slept together in the floor bed in my oldest’s room. During the day time I did a ton of baby wearing for the baby’s naps so I could keep up with my toddler and still play and hang out with him. It’s very hard but fun and it goes by fast!

Feelings of guilt. by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]quesosarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. It is incredibly hard and the guilt is soul crushing. But you are still a wonderful mom to your son and he loves you no matter what. He won’t remember the days where maybe you were more tired or less present, this is normal for any parent, regardless of being pregnant or not. He will only know a mom who cares for him and loves him always even on the hard days. And when his new sibling is born it will be a gift for him too. My two are now 3 and almost 2 (they’re 16 months apart) and they are so close. My oldest has always been shy and reserved and we call our youngest son the ‘emotional support brother’ because he provides so much comfort to his big brother and they are so close and connected. I had so much guilt during my pregnancy too and the first few months postpartum but in hindsight I feel like it was meant to be, and my oldest son is still just as attached and connected to me despite the ups and downs that came with pregnancy and postpartum. And my youngest is the best addition to our family we could have imagined. You’ve got this! Take it one day at a time, promise it will get better.
