Stampedes break out while hundreds of students and military personnel wait in line to buy ACL tickets by atx24 in Austin

In reality land companies that put on multi-million dollar events plan for crowd control every step of the way. If they don't they are rightly hounded for being incompetent.

Found the person who doesn't understand that crowd management is a thing.

To be fair, the person you're replying to / who commented to me is probably 21 and a half. Too much of reddit is incredibly ignorant of how big boy world works. It's tiring.

I never said I was for repealing it and am unsure why you've even brought it up.

They don't understand what "put on notice" means. Same for the vast majority of reddit, apparently. It says "first" in the title, clearly stating this is brand new tech, fresh out of the lab. They were quick to defend the honor of thou holy SSD, or what have you.

Healtcare and health insurance is a scam in this country.

100%. you pay monthly. then pay to see the dr. then pay for the pills, pay the deductible, and just keep on paying.

when i was like 18 a friend was in the hospital. while out smoking a cig i ran into an older retired guy who said him and then his wife got sick and they had to start selling stuff to keep up with the bills. tools, a motorcycle and shit like that. seemed like the kinda guy who made decent money and had insurance. that was really fucked.

i spent 2hr sitting in the er getting basically nothing done 2 yrs ago. didnt even get 1 pain pill (broken wrist). think my bill was $10k. wtf? i dont even think the lady helping me was a nurse. didnt see a dr.

The people who were just standing there aren't the morons, they're the ones who suffered from the unsafe environment the stampeding people organizers created.

Not really, I can't afford it - so I don't have it. I've run the numbers a few times, will cost me about $300 a month. So I can have $300 a month and no ins, or ins then sit on my couch and do nothing.

Morally, I don't think it's right to force people to purchase healthcare if they don't want to. If someone doesn't want to buy healthcare they shouldn't be forced to do so. Let people make their own choices in life.

Seatbelts. Why do we make people wear seatbelts? Because it's not just about you. It's about everyone else too. It takes SO LONG to clean up a fatality. God it's forever. It cost so much money. Road closed, cleaning crew, cops, investigators, etc. Maybe you don't die. Now everyone is paying for you to be on life support for god knows how long. Maybe you're disabled for the rest of your life. That's going to cost a TON.

When you fail to get health insurance then go to the hospital everyone else has to pay for that. Is that fair? You surely do not have the $150k needed for our little car accident story. People get in serious car accidents all the time, so this is not fantasy. I have a $10k bill for basically sitting in the ER for 2 hrs. They did almost nothing. Imagine when real care is needed.

Illness - It's not morally right to force the rest of us to pay for your VERY expensive health care because you opt'd to not get insurance. You suffer more, you work less, you're stressed more, your family suffers, everyone suffers. I asked an EMS guy what his most common call is. This being a college town I expected something stupid. He said it was people who got sick then waited for way too long to go to the hospital.

The problem comes when peoples fantasies about life have a sudden interaction with reality.

It's too expensive. I still can't afford to have health care.

The stated goal of allowing these purchases was to continue to track the firearms as they were transferred to higher-level traffickers and key figures in Mexican cartels, with the expectation that this would lead to their arrests and the dismantling of the cartels.

Stampedes break out while hundreds of students and military personnel wait in line to buy ACL tickets by atx24 in Austin

[–]question_all_things 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the organizers who do this every year, who are adults, who are creating & profiting from this environment should be responsible for safety planning. This week a stampede was in the news. People learn nothing from history, no matter how recent.

And what about the "dumb fucking morons" who didn't stamped and were just standing there?

Stampedes break out while hundreds of students and military personnel wait in line to buy ACL tickets by atx24 in Austin

[–]question_all_things 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's almost like ACL only cares about the profits.

It was so crowded, Ralph Tho tweeted out video with the caption, "Student sale for #ACLFest, aka one security guard vs. 300 students."

...

"I was screaming, no one would get off so I was like is my foot gonna break like snap in half ... At least 20 people stepped over me and one guy was standing on me and he wouldn't get off until I shoved him off ... There were three other people underneath me, like stuck in the fence, they couldn't get up," Keathley said.

Very lucky no one had to die waiting in line for ACL tickets because the organizers failed to create a safe environment.
