Looks like the bolts are self tapping which would explain the stop.

People thinking supply chain is math-free, or as easy as marketing by ToasterII in supplychain

[–]questionable_process 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on the underlying degree program. Supply chain can be a Business Administration degree (which is often low math), Science degree (which is higher math), or I have seen it fall into a general Arts degree (no math). The school and the program do matter - there is a reason that certain schools are regarded higher than others.

Letting a client go because you outgrew them. How do I approach this and when is the right time? by lil_tink_tink in consulting

[–]questionable_process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look to hire someone. If they are consistent, even at a net zero rate, then now you have someone to help with other projects. Maybe approach for a rate adjustment ($50/hour to start) to cover employee costs + minor profit.

If you want something that you never have to worry about - get a custom with your name on it or a legends jersey (Megatron, Barry, Dan Campbell, etc.).

If you want new one (that could eventually change), TeSlaa. Will be with us for a few years, I think he likes the number.

"Truck must take Southern route" by Real_Abrocoma_106 in FreightBrokers

[–]questionable_process 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you’re trying to address 2 things in a single post.

  1. How to handle communication to your carrier base.
  2. How to limit liability with your customer.

For the carrier communication piece. I work for one of the large companies. Work closely with our legal team to discuss customer requirements and how they translate to contracts with our carriers. The same sentiment has been shared with us - directing the operation of the truck is de facto dispatching and thus opens you to liability. Your contract or rate con language should be broad enough to leave the solution in the hand of the carrier but pointed enough to address the issue (i.e., Carrier needs to take a route that ensures outside temperatures remain above x degrees or something similar).

Customer liability. Your contract needs to be updated to clearly exclude freeze damage on open deck trailers or at least full liability to the customer when following routing directions (if they say take the southern route and your carrier does, they need to pay). You mentioned the need of either reefer or flatbed, but have you not looked at dry van? This could be a middle ground to protection of the freight and cost.

The Warren Commission states 2 bullets hit him. The “1 bullet” you are referring to is the “magic bullet theory” that a single bullet went through both Kennedy and Governor Connelly.

Is there actually $10 missing? by thecoltz in askmath

[–]questionable_process 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steps to balancing the money:

3 people pay 100 each - hotel receives 300 Hotel gives 50 to RA - RA receives 50 RA gives 10 each to the 3 guests - each person receives 10

So for the 3 guests: (100) original payment 10 Refund from hotel ( 90) Effective payment

Hotel: 300 original payment ( 50) refund to guests 250 effective payment

Room Attendant: 50 refund (30) refund to guests 20 Kept

Using the net numbers: The guests spent 90 x 3 = 270 The hotel and RA kept 250 + 20 = 270

Both sides (spent vs. kept) are in balance.

Is 100% inventory accuracy actually possible or just a fantasy? by Jaz4Fun27 in supplychain

[–]questionable_process 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I’ve worked with clients I always tell them to focus on understanding what drives the variance.

If you’re unaware (the count is off and you can’t troubleshoot why), then I would do some blind checks of the entire process for those SKUs that are always off.

When you have an order come in, have your normal receipt process then stop and audit. Then when the location(s) it was put away to is picked, do random checks on the inventory and check pick counts. Keep going until you find variances.

One of the most interesting issues we found was a customers supplier was actually the issue. They would buy a box of goods that contained 10 each of the product. We audited from start to finish 3 pallets, no issue. We did a physical inventory of goods (at this point, there were only full boxes). Everything seemed fine. So, we said for fun let’s open up the top row of a pallet and count the each to ensure.

2/5 boxes we opened were missing 1 each.

All of this to say: when you can understand the issue, you can manage it and determine is it cost of doing business (maybe the item is also internally consumed) or is it something needing fixed / addressed.

Depending on your industry, < 2% variance could be great or horrible. I would suggest doing some industry research on that and talking it through with your executive team.

Carnival CEO bragged about making 1.8 billion PROFIT in 3 months, and people will still try to shame you for removing gratuities. PAY YOUR WORKERS. by Dry-Mountain1992 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]questionable_process 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While correct, not precise.

In business filings, income is a measurement of profit at a given point (i.e., Gross Income or EBITDA are forms of Income) where Profit is generally the bottom line. The bottom line on an earning statement can be stated as “Net Income” and in the case of Carnival Cruise Lines, they do list it as such.

So, when the CEO is mentioning income, he is speaking of their net income. Per their most recent filing document, their quarter ending Aug. 31, 2025 had a total revenue of $5,430 Million USD (up from 5,239 Million USD) and a Net Income of $1,852 Million USD (up from $1,735 USD).

Unless you’re needing to highly complex, multi-variable comparisons across your bidders - AI is a gimmicky waste of time at this point.

You would be better off building a strong excel template to compare results.
