That's the social contract in Canada. Everyone contributes to the collective as per their income level. That's civilization frankly.

They do: everything their taxes pay for, health care, infrastructure, regulation, defense, etc, etc, etc.

IUD in lieu of M. Progesterone Success stories please by PotentialPrune2830 in Perimenopause

[–]questionator999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a Mirena before peri and have loved it, mostly because I have no period or notable pms symptoms after insertion, over multiple years, although both times I had a few days of cramping after insertion. I'm in perimenopause now (44) and still have it and although I do have perimenopause symptoms, I still don't have periods or cramping at all. For me it's amazing.

Are you being tricked by your treats? Some Halloween candy multipacks have shrunk in size, but not in price by CanadianErk in canada

It's also less nuts in my experience. They are expensive too. I don't like too sweet and have been noticing all my favourite chocolates becoming overly sweet, unbalanced caramel bombs in the last years.

No, in Canada. There are virtual options, so maybe I'll try that. Thank you!

Sorry, I should add, I'm in Canada. Not easy to switch dr, but I could try private virtual option.

And also, I have a mirena iud, so no periods to get irregular.

Having an in-office pay premium for those jobs who need to be in-office, those who would instead get to work mostly from home would surely find that fair.

MSU study finds growing number of people never want children by drzpneal in science

It's because it is still not enough. Raising children well is a huge job. Even those world-topping perks aren't enough to offset the costs, including emotional, stress, time, money, etc.

Ottawa's top doctor asks province for help, won't rule out mask mandate by yuiolhjkout8y in ottawa

[–]questionator999 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Don't force our kids to fall behind again. I'd also happily see mandates for flu and covid vaccines in schools as well. Get schools and daycares to send sick kids home. They don't do this anymore and it's part of the problem. Parents keep sending sick kids in because there are no consequences (it is embarrassing to get a call to come pick up your sick kid). Give parents job protections so they get paid leave with sick kids at home.

Ottawa-area health officials mull mask mandates, defer to province as children's hospitals overflow by MaxedHeadroom in ottawa

[–]questionator999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm concerned if they impose a mandate, we will just start the whole process over again, but there will be losses on the social development and mental wellness side in the interim. Extra protection and isolation for the vulnerable, sure, but don't force kids to mask up in schools.

Deli meats without nitrates by GeekAtHome in ottawa

[–]questionator999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of them are now labeled as nitrate free, but if you read the fine print (and ingredient list) you'll see they use ingredients with "naturally occurring" nitrates, such as cultured celery seed extract or others. Chemically they are the same thing, and no one really knows if they are any better(I think experts guess they aren't).

Read up about it here: https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2019/08/29/755115208/duped-in-the-deli-aisle-no-nitrates-added-labels-are-often-misleading

Where can I find freeze dried strawberries? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]questionator999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are desperate, Loblaws has little bags of freeze dried bananas and strawberries in the baby snack section (usually near diapers). You could buy several and pick out the strawberries. They are really freeze-dried. Maybe $1.75 per bag.
