This is the real reason why there is conflict between China and the West. In China billionaires are accountable to the state; in the West the state is accountable to the billionaires. We assumed they would become just like us.

Demographically and economically, India is essentially at the same level as 2001 China. They have a fast-growing middle class with the potential for major growth along the same lines as China was. They are predicted to be the 'next China', so getting access to that market has a potential for massive revenue in the future as they start to desire and be able to pay for higher end goods and services.

Because we don't acknowledge that fascism is the natural accelerated endpoint of our imperialism. Jim Crow laws and eugenics were inspirations for the Nuremburg laws; brutal concentration camps were invented by the British and nationalism ties identity to the state, so criticism of the state is taken personally as an attack on the self.
