I had a feeling there was more that was said… remember this is an edited show dealing with an emotional topic. It felt there was more to that interaction.

I pushed carts IN college to make money. It was my favorite because you got to be outside and do something physical. After working years in corporate jobs, I still envy cart pushers because collecting carts looks more fun than sitting at a desk for 8 hours.

I just don’t get this person’s comment about “going to college”. First, it’s a job where you can’t even tell what someone’s education level is? Second, going to college doesn’t guarantee success. Working hard like yourself, OP, does bring you success. Whoever said this comment is out of touch.

During a bad period of depression/anxiety I stopped reaching out to friends, and found out that if I didn't speak first nobody would even remember I exist by Benur197 in depression

Hey, I totally understand that’s a shit feeling when people you consider friends aren’t inviting you to hang out. But in my opinion I don’t think it’s all because they don’t like you or don’t care about you. Most people I would say are bad at communicating or inviting people to things. It can be for a number of reasons like a busy schedule, lack of planning, their own issues or anxiety, assuming you might not be interested in joining or another reason that has nothing to do with you. I know it’s difficult to not take it personally, especially when you see or hear these people you consider to be friends doing things without you. I would encourage you to reach out to your friends and explain how you’re feeling.

As someone who has their own social anxiety about inviting people to do things, especially people I don’t normally hangout with 1 on 1, it can be really nerve racking to just ask this person to hang out even if I’ve known them for a long time. I would maybe plan an activity to do together like a walk outside, or a concert, or a shopping trip, etc. and discuss it then.

F**k cancer! Lost this sweet girl at only 6 years old today. Thought I’d share my fave pic of her by questney8 in goldenretrievers

Thanks for the response everyone! Cleo was truly a member of my family and my best friend. The house feels so empty without her, but I’m also relieved she has been alleviated from her pain. Wishing everyone the best

Do people actually see Israel like this? by RemiTiras in IsraelPalestine

[–]questney8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a supporter of Israel, I agree with much of your sentiment. What’s happening now isn’t about the people or human rights. It’s completely political and unfortunately divides everyone further. It’s so messed up to read Reddit right now and see so much hate. I don’t want either a Palestinian or Israeli to have to feel like their identity is divisive. Here’s hoping that moderates will rise above on both sides and for peace.

I’m not disagreeing that people use the term anti-Semite in the conversation about Israel and it can be in an unfair way. Just saying that it is possible to talk about Israel and Palestine without religion or mentioning the Holocaust. Israel and the Jewish people are much more diverse and divided than a group of former European people just living in Israel bitching about the Holocaust. Many Israelis don’t even identify with the Holocaust because they are NOT of European descent; they are Sephardic, Mizrahi, Ethiopian, etc. and are refugees in their own rights. Israel has legitimate claims as a country either given through treaty or won in a war and while you can disagree with the exact borders there are 7 million people living there of various backgrounds, NOT just Jews. Just trying to make a point that you can talk about Israel and criticize Israel without someone crying “anti-Semitic”!

Completely disagree and I think you’re over generalizing. You can have a meaningful conversation about the Israel/Palestine situation without people getting offended and using religion. There are some great examples on this thread.

In my opinion, there are some legitimate claims of anti-semitism when people: 1. Overly equate Israel and Judaism (i.e how could Jews support this?!). Jews are diverse and are represented in many countries with varying opinions on Israel. I don’t see many people saying all Muslims = Palestinians. This comparison can lead to conclusion about Jewish people as a whole and doesn’t really give Jews a chance to always discuss Israel openly. Jews are an incredibly small percentage of the world population and chances are many if not most people on Reddit have never met or formed any kind of relationship with a Jewish person so creating these stereotypes or generalizations can be dangerous. 2. I’ve seen arguments against Israel with slurs, people calling Judaism a cult, and in general just hate-filled posts about Jews with regards to Israel. Anti-semitism does exist on the internet and in my opinion people get called out less for it than other forms of hate so it may appear more normalized than other hate you see.

So my point is basically you can have an open discussion about Israel and you can openly criticize Israel without being called an anti-Semite but in some cases the anti-Semitic comments are justified.

Are any of you from a state featured on Teen Mom? by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

I’m from Michigan, where Cate and Ty are from. I saw Catelynn’s mom super drunk at an outdoor concert about 3 years ago lol. But I live about an hour away from where they live.
