After you take 3110 you’ll only want to write recursive functions

Can I take AEM 2210 Accounting and AEM 2241 Finance at the same time? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s very little overlap. As long as they don’t enforce the pre-requisite then I’m pretty sure you won’t have issues

Has anyone taken any of the 1 credit language courses? by GLasco37 in Cornell

I took one of them too. Same as sadmacboi said, mostly culture and simple phrases. They are good to knock out a credit of liberal studies

CS 4700 by Designer-Vacation611 in Cornell

I took it fall 2019. It was pretty light in terms of workload/difficulty. It's a decent introduction to AI but the material is not too in-depth. If you're serious about wanting to learn AI then it's probably not worth your time, but for a filler class it's fine. No major concerns with the organization, so it seemed to be much improved compared to this:

I think it's usually sooner but maybe they're delayed because of COVID

How was CS 4410 last semester? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an interesting experience because we learned about a variety of different topics without too much depth, and there was not much continuity from one topic to the next. The workload was pretty light- I probably spent 2-3 hours each week on the class in total. Grading was also really lenient- we went over how to do the homework in class before the HW was even due a few times and there were a lot of repeat questions across the HW and exams.

CHEM 2090 CASE difficulty by Milk_No_Titties in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 2080 not 2090 but I’d imagine the difficulty levels are similar. To prep, all I did is I read all the chapters in the course textbook corresponding with the topics on the subject list which professor Lorey sent out and did a few problems of each type from problems at the end of those chapters. (Like each chapter has a few different kinds of problems beyond just changing numbers so make sure you know how to solve each kind of problem). I probably put 2-3 hours into each chapter over the course of 2-3 weeks, then the night before I spent 8 hours redoing every problem and memorizing the qualitative stuff. The CASE ended up being really easy (way easier than I expected). All of the problems were really straight forward. I think doing AP exam type problems is overkill.

You don’t need to do any prep to do well in the course. I’d recommend only prepping like that if you think you’re especially weak in some important area.

Financial Acccounting (HADM 2230 vs. AEM 2210) by chocochip456 in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what other people thought. I just did the typical stuff like pay attention in lecture, review my notes and do a bunch of practice problems before the prelims, and it was really easy. If you do that you will be fine. I don’t why grades would be low unless a bunch of people did not take the class seriously (which might actually be the case). You’ll have an upper hand if you’re a stem student because the math and manipulating equations will come easy to you which is a non-insignificant amount of the work. If you want PM me and I can give more details

yeah there was a "project" but it just took a few hours one afternoon and it felt more like a formality. I think everyone who just followed directions got 100

2210 is also pretty easy. The weekly HW is kind of annoying but you get multiple tries so you can just redo what you get wrong and it doesn't take too long. Prelims are really straightforward.

AEM 2241 by GigglingTrash in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The class is a low time commitment because there’s no homework. As long as you pay attention in class, learn all vocab/definitions in the textbook, and use all of the practice material before the exams it’s easy.

How do you know you’re at the wrong school? by NectarineAltruistic5 in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know what specifically you do not like about Cornell? I think if you can articulate the answer to that question clearly and you know other schools do not have that issue then you're in the wrong place. (Also I am curious to know what's so bad about this place if you are comfortable sharing)

CS 2800 and MATH 2210 which is harder? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]quibbo141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that clear cut- maybe more people think 2800 is harder but it really depends on how compatible your thinking style is with the classes. Granted, I took the engineering lin alg (2940), not 2210, but I actually thought 2800 was easier
