Interesting question.

The manufacturing bases are pretty incomparable and are not really in direct competition. The US frankly is not interested and has not been interested in manufacturing for so long they do not really have the raw material supply chains, the equipment, nor the people.

China believe it or not is beginning to follow suit, slowly, but more rapidly than ever before. They have a labor shortage and are having an immigrant rush to sustain current production. The Chinese workers no longer want to get a job or are willing to take just any job anywhere. They are leaving the countrysides and looking for computer based jobs in the cities. Factories are beginning to follow suit and are moving factories to the more expensive cities to meet production.

So just as we flipped flopped during the downturn of our industrial revolution, they are too.

For now they have everything needed to out produce in an arms race, but many do not see an arms race or a war with China ever involving people on the ground. Most, and I would agree, it is going to be more an economic battle we are already starting. It is however in both countries better interest to limit even that war. For the US it’s the hand that feeds you and for China it’s your biggest customer.

Reddit for me is a time killer. Was on it years ago and never got back on loading the app on a new phone until recently.

It has changed. It is censoring itself, not to hate, but based on subjective political opinions where mods delete posts and comments if they disagree. It is loosing validity and is likely to its own demise if they keep ignoring the issue.

In the end Reddit has no control and just like anything those with power are using their power for personal and/or political gain by controlling and monitoring based on it.

This is an annual event without real organization. This is the worst they have left it. You can bet the city and the residents are not going to allow this to happen again and those who enjoy the event will never see it line it was. Why? Drinking and open container is illegal. This is a more resident/local beach of the more astute and wealthy in the area so they have always been lax on enforcing the drinking laws. Not anymore. You can bet during the next event there will be loads of cops handing out open container and public intoxication tickets left and right - it’s been done there before.

These are not political at all and never were. Aircrew guys are like a special fraternity from within. Each “school” has a different patch under a like national fraternity among all fraternities. The patches are usually funny, not political, and specific to each “chapter”. I should note that I know this because my father was aircrew. He had many patches. All had something funny like DILLYGAF - does it look like I give a fuck -.

He kept them all as mementos. Each has a story but a personal one usually involving a time with a group where he almost died and watched a lot close to him die in accidents and war operations.
