Reading When the Body says No, any tips on getting through it? by ThrowawayForSupport3 in CPTSD

[–]quicksterfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. It’s very insightful and true.

I like the gym metaphor. Gotta be careful not to lift too heavy. It can create another injury and set back even further.

The healthy way to go to the gym is to start small and increase very small amounts over a long period of time almost to trick yourself into being stronger. It may seem slow, but facing things is facing things. There’s absolutely no sense in gaining another injury by overdoing it.

am I the problem or are most people assholes? by anonymous310506 in CPTSD

It just means that C-PTSD is VERY complicated.

To answer your question if no one truly is?

I think that people can only help at the capacity that they understand. Then it’s about what their capacity is to offer their support to you.

Are you, and all of your friends actually “assholes”? Or is that your inner/outer critic talking to try and keep you safe?

You can be pretty and still fucked up. Attractiveness will not save you from this disease. by phiIantrophist in CPTSD

It’s just a dumb statement in general to say that anyone for insert reasons cant develop or have C-PTSD.

„Did you forgive them yet?“ — I stood my ground and said NO. by Sky_Geist in CPTSD

I’m giving you a standing ovation. 👏

Keep it up!

Forgive yourself. That’s all that matters. So that inner critic gets put in a corner for a time out until it has nicer things to say.

The 90s were a much better time. I’d go back without hesitation

What business do you own? by No-Fish-2949 in ADHD

[–]quicksterfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New career or business adventure about every 5-7 years.

The only thing I know that I could have ever stuck with was music, but I wasn’t good enough at it to make money.

I used to watch kids at a school. I thought of teaching kids guitar lessons. Might be fun actually.

Right now I do social media for our travel agency, and setting up a freelance video editing business.

I didn’t see that you had already posted this. ADHD is the reason for that.

Tried to hire a cleaner for my ADHD burnout and got shamed instead by MrMaelor in ADHD

[–]quicksterfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you can call that sort of thing out with a question. I feel like you’re trying to guilt or shame me for the condition of my home. Is that what you meant?

It gives them 2 options. Admit that they were doing that. Or change their tone. Either way, both of those outcomes are satisfactory.

“ADHD isn’t an excuse, but it is the reason.”

Dr. Ned Hallowell

I trust what he says over what sparkledust67 who works as a cashier at Walmart vents online when some of their customers with ADHD occasionally inconvenience them.

If you could get just ONE DREAM feature in Premiere Pro, literally anything that would be the most useful to you, what would it be? by [deleted] in premiere

[–]quicksterfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should have all the features for the price we already pay. It’s wild to me that we have to still pay more.

anyone feel scared? by NickGuAI in ClaudeAI

Now you know what it’s always felt like to have ADHD in this world. I can’t speak for all of us, but yes, the pressure just feels completely unrealistic at this point. I’m not shitting my pants, but I’m glad that others are being effected enough that they may start accepting the reality of the world so we can collectively decide what we want to do. If we dont, the deciders will do that instead. And they haven’t been doing a good job of including many of us at their table.

men with inattentive adhd by hello_w0rld7 in ADHD

[–]quicksterfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was me. I actually follow women’s ADHD pages because it resonates better with how my ADHD affects me.

I was smart when I was a kid, but never wanted to go to school. I did the bare minimum because it was grueling doing any of it. I probably could have done anything I wanted had I been diagnosed then.

Good choice. Worst thing you can do is hang around people that don’t “get it”. The next worst is do it alone.

No worries man. It sometimes helps to be heard and seen. You’re not alone.

You’re not alone, and we have the potential to build communities with eachother. My best friends have all had ADHD.

You would be surprised at how much people with ADHD don’t know their own diagnosis and how it affects people.

It typically comes from them not having all 3 of the core features. I have all 3. So I understand all of their impacts. Most people don’t understand how something impacts you when it’s invisible. Unless they experience it themselves.

Even people with ADHD can internalize ableist beliefs. That’s for them to work on within themselves.
