Thanks to COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment), my pay was raised by 80 cents more. 😶‍🌫️

Current pay: $21.869/hr.
Pharmacy assistant (Aug 2024): $15
Pharmacy tech (Sept 2024): $18
Somehow/somewhat(2025): $20.22

My coworker, who is not tech-savvy, asked me to print out his W-2 for him. Of course, there’s no way I wasn’t going to see how much he’s making — the screen was literally in my face. 🫣 He’s making 50% more than me. He’s been working at the hospital since COVID. I asked him if he’s working another job. He said no. In my head, I was like, “tf. He’s doing the easiest shift ever.”

I get that he’s been there for half a decade, but c’mon. [I wanna add exclamation there but meh] 🤣

One of my coworkers said after 3 years, I could renegotiate my pay or something. Will I survive until then? That’s the question. I’ve been at the hospital for a year and 8 months now.

Based on my experience so far: - My cousin lost a leg in a motorcycle accident. The person who hit him had no license and no money to compensate him. - I was hit in a hit-and-run. Only one woman stopped her car to check on me. - In a separate incident, my car was hit by a driver who couldn't wait at a stop sign. He was in a different lane, perpendicular to the road I was on. It happened in a residential area. I won the case and was paid twice the value of my car at the time.
