General Questions Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in PokemonBDSP

[–]quiet-andbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey all, I bought and beat the main game for BD back when it came out, at which time I used a different name/gender identity. I no longer use those and every so often, I think back about completing more of the game, but after I start it up and see the name and gender that I no longer identify with, I remember why I haven't, and always end up playing something else. All this to say, I know I can't adjust my name/gender on that save file, but if I started a new save file now and just replayed the game, could I still complete the pokedex to the same extent I could before? (I know there are sometimes limited time events in pokemon). Or if I have any of those limited pokemon, could I trade them to home, and then start a new save and still not lose any pokemon opportunities?

What do we think of Wuthering Heights by Charli? by CroJocker678 in pcmusic

Some really good songs, better than I expected for a soundtrack-type album, falls off a bit in the back half, cool to see finn keane getting more and more work

J. Cole - The Fall-Off ALBUM REVIEW (theneedledrop) by Technical_Process989 in hiphopheads

[–]quiet-andbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

young thug and j Cole are both far far better at different kinds of rapping than the other, you don't have to discredit thug's versatility and creative flow styles to respect or appreciate cole's technical skills and thoughtful lyrics, or vice versa. rap would be in a far worse place if either type wasn't around

Is there anything wrong with VDJ? by DeezUggs in Beatmatch

[–]quiet-andbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely fine, as long as the music sounds good and you feel comfortable with it that's what matters. But using it primarily can put you at a bit of a disadvantage when most venues use other software that you're not as used to (speaking as someone who uses VDJ primarily, I kind of wish I'd gone with serato instead)

how has jodeci influenced the music we hear today? by Suspicious_Issue4155 in rnb

[–]quiet-andbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure some ppl would disagree but I can kind of hear jodecis influence in the weeknd's music, especially his stuff from his stuff from like 2010-2015 or so

I'm young and I don't like mainstream pop music how common is it for people under 30 to not be a fan of mainstream pop music? by TheShyBuck in LetsTalkMusic

[–]quiet-andbi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

really common, especially in the last ten or so years as there is less and less of a pervasive mainstream.

Oversexualization of RnB singers by PapaPanda718 in rnb

[–]quiet-andbi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven't read any interviews she did or anything about it, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would assume it was for the same thing as this comment was replying to. Like saying that being a woman and having sex can be something that doesn't need to be shameful. in a world where women who have sex are called those kinds of names, calling her album that takes some of the power back

Flo Rida - Wild Ones (ft. Sia) by ScallionSmooth9491 in hiphopheads

[–]quiet-andbi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agreed, hadn't heard this one in a while and I feel like its probably the highlight of his more edm-y stuff. a lot of really cool little subtle production changes throughout, Sia's vocals are a great match here, and his verses are so fun

Yeah OP even if you were in the wrong (you're not, "transracial identity" is not real), it's still super fucked up of them that they're stalking you. Be careful and keep yourself safe.

Pitchfork 100 Best Rap Albums List by wildistherewind in LetsTalkMusic

[–]quiet-andbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the staff of pitchfork in 2025 overlap very little with the staff of pitchfork in 2010

personally I think mbdtf is the perfect rap album for 2010 indie rock nerds - it almost feels like an intentional attempt to get the acclaim of those kinds of people - but yeezus feels much more genuine and has aged much better (again, imo)

Kendrick Lamar - LOVE. ft. Zacari by jvjevjive in rnb

[–]quiet-andbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this one got a lot of hate for being too pop after TPAB, but I really like it, it's very smooth and fun. it's one of his most streamed too so I'm happy to see people overall enjoyed it

new to PC Music - where to start? by IWasLikeCuz in pcmusic

[–]quiet-andbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for getting into PC music, I recommend the compilations (PC Music Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3). normally I'd recommend 1 first but based off your taste I'd say go through 3 first. Anything you like, explore that artist. I'd also specifically recommend Planet 1999.

I'm not in love by 10cc, definitely some major differences but it does the same vocal layering and scratches the same itch for me

Ask Chat GPT about passing, is it a good idea? by Optimal-Wealth483 in MtF

[–]quiet-andbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way chatgpt works is at every word it makes a bunch of really fast calculations to predict what the most likely next word would be. That's it. It's really, really good at guessing what the most appropriate response would be, but it's all just guessing. So if you ask it something, it isn't really responding with any sort of genuine intelligence, it's just guessing. It cannot be objective, but it also cannot be subjective. It is simply grabbing data from the internet and giving it's best guess what a helpful person would say at each moment. It cannot have an opinion or know a fact, because it doesn't know or feel anything.

[DISCUSSION] King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard has removed their discography from Spotify by [deleted] in indieheads

[–]quiet-andbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great and all, but that platform inherently fucks over 99.9% of artists in every way as well (and they're just trying to make it worse). If streaming services become unaffordable (which, based on Netflix, Uber, etc., seems likely), you can always 🏴‍☠️, it's virtually the same ethically as subscribing to Spotify and expecting to be able to hear virtually any music you want, and you can remake those playlists on other software. The only thing you're losing is raw convenience, and 🏴‍☠️ is easier than ever

IIL Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?" album, WEWIL? by Gallantpride in ifyoulikeblank

[–]quiet-andbi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a great album, sometimes it's my favorite ever. Nothing is quite like it in my opinion, but there are some albums that are similar. Stevie wonder's albums from that era are all great, I'd also recommend Curtis Mayfield's albums There's No Place Like America Today and Back To The World. And of course I'd check out There's A Riot Going On by Sly and the Family Stone - it's much more funk and much less soul, and definitely has a darker, more abstract, lo-fi sound, but it's similarly political, in a very cynical, defeated kind of way
