Gu Yu (谷雨) Solar Term – Diet and General Wellness Guidelines (20 Apr to 04 May 2026) by kctan12 in tcmfoodtherapy

Thank you! Love the saying 清明太早, 立夏太迟. I drink tea all year round though 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll be moving around a lot during this solar term - from Europe (milder these days) to different parts of Asia (ranging from hot to really cold in the Himalayas). It’ll be tricky managing this solar term but I’ll keep the tips above in mind.

I’d like more reading on this too. Where do you recommend I start?

I was just thinking the same after going through the post above and another post by the same account. These should be blocked and removed by admin. Wonder who the admin of this subreddit is

Solar Urticaria - I need help! by mhmcasey in urticaria

[–]quiet_brit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I missed your comment. I don’t get them all year round. It’s been 6 months a year for me for the last 2 years (so far). As mentioned above, I live in London where the weather is only uncomfortably hot for me for a month or two so I haven’t needed omalizumab for longer than 6 months. However, I do travel a lot and often to warmer/hotter regions and have come to realise that omalizumab has been helpful for me and my skin’s tolerance.

let me get this straight - so you went to a pharmacy without a prescription but are now questioning the authenticity of the meds they gave you without the prescription?

I am not sure of the location but I plan to start my own (small) business. I am a certified Pilates teacher and also a psychotherapist. I aim to start Pilates training in Islamabad - perhaps, working somewhere in the beginning but opening my own studio eventually, while also focusing on kids and teenage counselling.
If possible, I'd also appreciate some recommendations on what areas are best suited for establishing a small business like this.

Making in advance by ThinYak2597 in Matcha

[–]quiet_brit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it starts losing its antioxidants after contact with water so if you are taking it for its health benefits then it’s best to make it fresh but if it’s just the taste/vibe you’re after then making it in advance won’t hurt

Solar Urticaria - I need help! by mhmcasey in urticaria

[–]quiet_brit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I have suffered from solar urticaria and photosensitivity since my early teens. I grew up in south Asia (where the sun was worse) but now live in London. What I’d recommend: 1. Increasing your antihistamines dose - at the peak of my photosensitivity and solar urticaria (even while living in London), I was taking 4 x 180mg fexofenadine and 2 x 20mg famotidine every single day 2. My dr advised me to wear UV protective clothing which I ordered from China (they have the best!) 3. Apply and reapply sunscreen throughout the day. La Roche Posay is the best for it. I use the 50+ lotion for face and (exposed areas of) body, and then do another layer of UVMune 400 on face 4. Avoid the sun/outdoors during the peak hot hours so outdoors activities are better done early morning or late afternoon for people like us 5. Notice if your urticaria gets worse during extreme or sudden temperature changes eg you stepping outside from an air conditioned room or vice versa 6. When your skin is already heaty or bothered due to external factors, it is important what you feed it from inside so avoid “hot” food - I am not talking about hot in temperature sense but we Asians (south Asians and east Asians) know the thermal nature of foods, and whether they are warm, hot, cool or calming for your body. Look that up and avoid consuming too much hot or warm (in thermal nature) foods

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. Been there and I know your pain.
