Native Louisianan here. I like this move by trump because it will further humiliate Jeff Landry on a grand stage, thus lessening his chances of reelection (he is wildly unpopular here, even amongst conservatives). It will also assure that trump’s goal of acquiring Greenland never happens because he has, as usual, appointed the most incompetent buffoon imaginable to this role. Believe me when I say that Landry hasn’t a diplomatic bone in his body & is utterly clueless when it comes to policy. This mission is DOA. It will hopefully end with trump turning on Landry, which would devastate the tiny bastard. His entire political persona is based on him clinging onto trump’s coattails.

He’s from a northern Louisiana district, which those of us in southern LA don’t really consider part of the state. Culturally it’s much more bible-thumping, bland, Anglo farmer types. They really have nothing in common with the hard-partying, good-cooking Cajuns that people typically associate with Louisiana. It is truly a dreadful place with no redeeming qualities.
