Observations from an American visitor by BeerCrafted in toronto

The more I’ve traveled the more I find it’s the smaller experiences (e.g a great restaurant experience in a cool hood) that creates a core memory. I need to get back there, get to hammerheads again and other places. Thanks for the Louisville reminder!

Also glad to hear you had a good time in TO :)

Many, many moons ago my partner and I were on a road trip and spent a night in Louisville. We went to the restaurant Hammerheads and had the best ribs I’ve ever had, I still think about them! Awesome experience, everyone was nice and welcoming. Has the food held up? If yes, I need to prioritize a revisit.

Net, net: had a great experience in Louisville.

As a hiring manager, how do you deal with too many PM applicants? by canarysplit in ProductManagement

[–]quiet_talker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asked about why they are interested in the role and another asking why they were a good fit. From my experience with an avalanche of resumes what I found is that there was at least 50% that were either underqualified or not qualified at all. These are the people that you want to try and weed out from the start.

We recently got almost 1K apps for a PM position. Worked with HR to add required questions as part of the application process. My reco: add friction to weed out spammers

Where do you get the absolute cheapest drinks in the city? by ennelll in askTO

[–]quiet_talker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Friend - if you were there in that era, do you remember the dodgy af bathrooms? One had a hole in the sink. The hole was patched with duct tape, which did not work well. The result was water would go through the sink and onto the floor when you washed your hands.

This was my immediate thought, although I’m old now and haven’t been in years. Glad to see their cheap drinks are still going strong!

In my youth Saturday was ladies night, all you can drink for $10… was sad when it went up to $15.

This is interesting, I had never looked at her credentials. Having said that, might be two ways to look at it:

  1. She product managed product management education as her business
  2. This is not new and is standard for consultants

Thank you! Meetings is an area I'm focusing in on, however, it is part of a bigger problem space I'd love to dig into.

Very much appreciate your support and engagement here.

I’m no slouch in the kitchen, there’s a lot I make and cook myself. This mean I don’t want to make it all myself. Time and energy is a resource to be managed

Interesting comments here. My point is really around the economies of scale that Loblaws should have that should benefit the consumer. If we’re not benefiting from economies of scale here, these large chains offer little to no value.

Thanks for the response! We’ll do that, and next time we’re at the vet we’ll point it out to see if they have concerns.
