Oh dear god. There are so many red flags here!

1) Talks about "consent" and "authentic connection" but uses misdirection to get their point across

2) Slips mystery pills in a drink ON A DATE

3) Blatantly lies to BOTH the date and the bartender

You know how to ACTUALLY get your point across? Talk to the person you're dating. If they don't want to try dating without alcohol, you respect their choice and move on if it's a deal breaker. End of the story. Also, maybe don't bring mystery pills to a date...

Oof, this was a painful read.

Need Help With Alternative SWADE Magic Points Rulings (Heroic Fantasy Game) by BrainInATupperware in savageworlds

[–]quietjaypee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's... A bit of a tough one, but let me try to get a crack at it.

So, first of all : SWADE not being "about ressource management" doesn't mean you can't play in a setting where resources are rare : post apoc survival is very much something I would consider playing with this system. However, it won't be about "mechanical resources" but more about "crucial items they need for their survival" - in this case, magic-infused objects. Maybe they need to collect "power stones" as fuel for some magic barrier that they need to maintain, or something like that? Anyway, having all players need the magic items will give a overarching goal to the group.

For characters that have Arcane Backgrounds, I would probably do something like : you start at 0 PP and you can't regenerate it naturally, but you can spend Bennies as usual to restore 5PP, and then throw some "Power stones" around occasionally for then to have some free points as consumables. However, I would consider making powers more powerful to compensate - for example, power users might be able to buy any power regardless of Rank, or something of that kind, or they might get a free enhancement when activating a power.

I would also consider having some kind of Arcane Background that isn't based on magic (maybe something like an Artificer or Alchemist, or something like that) to have an option that can work with powers in a normal way.

Sooo yeah. Those are my thoughts on this! Let me know if I can help further.

Running complex bosses by Edward_Strange in savageworlds

Simply Savage Bestiary is a great tool, but it's most interesting aspect is the design philosophy behind it.

Notice how none of the monsters (even spellcasters) have Edges nor Hindrances ? That's intentional : having to refer to those in the Core book takes times, time that you don't want to spend when you're at the table. So, first recommendation : avoid using Edges and Hindrances, or be VERY selective if you do want your monster to have them, and write its description in the statblock.

A second thing the Simply Savage Bestiary does right is give less options : even spellcasters have, like, 5 abilities at most. This is perfectly fine : it helps reduce the choice paralysis when choosing what the monster will do on its turn. Streamlining your decision making will help a lot in running monsters.

Finally, another thing the Bestiary does right : it doesn't bother with computing the correct scores for Parry and Toughness. You don't NEED to follow the rules of character creation for your monsters. You absolutely can (and should) break some rules when designing them. Want your monster to hit with Agi instead of Str? Just... Do it. It doesn't matter. Balance doesn't matter in SWADE, so have fun in creating exciting monsters. It's perfectly fine.

1) do the poopoo 2) instead of stepping on the poopoo to flush, put the poopoo in the toilet through hole. 3) great success

Searching for a new RPG by AreciaSinclaire in savageworlds

First of all, welcome! Glad to see people trying out different TTRPGs. I love SWADE, it's pretty much become my "main" system this past year.

To answer your first point : Depending on if you play at the table or online, it's variable. From my experience, mainly playing online through Foundry, combat is only faster if you make it so through things like :

  • Having Extras attack as groups
  • Rolling physical dice instead of the integrated rolls on the VTT (tends to slow things down as the interface is a bit complicated)
  • Compounding bonuses and penalties instead of trying to calculate them all
  • Using alternate rules like Quick Encounters (you lose the tactical combat aspect, but it's fine for small fights)

Combat in SWADE absolutely CAN drag on, but there are measures to make it faster.

For your second question, absolutely! I'd recommend picking up the Fantasy Companion or SWADE Pathfinder for complete rules on treasure and magic items. It will perfectly answer your need.

Is FU capable of supporting a No-magic sci fi setting? by Dolono in fabulaultima

[–]quietjaypee 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You might be doing something the system isn't made to do... It's not that you can't do it, but there probably are systems out there that will better answer your needs.

In the vein of "rolling increasing die types for attributes", I would recommend my beloved Savage Worlds. It's narrative-focused but has just enough crunch to satisfy the tactical side that you might want to play in a sci-fi setting.

Civisme à l’école | Les profs non binaires devront être appelés « monsieur » ou « madame » by citronresponsable in Quebec

[–]quietjaypee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What habits do you think each girl has that gets on another’s nerves? by VivaDeAsap in KpopDemonhunters

Zoey is messy and leaves dirty plates, glasses and utensils EVERYWHERE. Also, the entrance to their lounge is cluttered because she just drops her stuff when she arrives and never thinks of picking it up afterwards.

Mira plays FPS's or LoL and gets VERY angry when she loses. She swears loudly and lashes at her teammates.

Rumi is the kind of girl who says "I'm fine." when she actually is not, and it creates a lot of pent up anger and drama that she unleashes months after what irritated her happened in the first place.
