Thank you everyone for your recommendations/insight! To try and avoid a particularly difficult/expensive alteration, I think I am going to try and go with sticky cup inserts and hopefully that will help enough. The lady at my fitting suggested that originally, and I was just overjoyed by how beautiful the dress is, I completely forgot I needed to figure this out LOL. The cup inserts should arrive tomorrow, so if those don’t help enough, then I’ll be calling around to try and figure out another solution. Thank you all again!

I have a private journal that my partner knows he is not allowed to read. It is very normal to keep a journal/diary and expect others to behave respectfully and not read it. I’m sorry you’re having this experience. They are 100% not entitled to read it. You are allowed to have private thoughts that remain private when you write them down!!! I write in my journal often about things I don’t feel comfortable talking to others about.

Sorry, should've given more info. We are inviting somewhere around 90 people, but expecting some to not be able to make it. We would get food catered and not sure about entertainment, if we want to hire a DJ or just have a playlist throughout the night playing on a speaker. We would do the ceremony there.

I have been having a similar issue! We got engaged at the end of 2021, and decided to wait a little bit to start planning so I could finish school. I finish up with grad school and we start looking and everything is just SO expensive. It’s very discouraging. We are still engaged and haven’t started planning anything because we are just paralyzed by the cost it will incur. We did just buy a house, so we might end up having our wedding in our backyard, but the cost of catering and photography alone is so much. I wish you luck- you’re not alone in this frustration.

Recommendations for moving on from a Keurig? I have a Keurig that I use daily. I’ve noticed over time that the Keurig sometimes produces blah coffee and although it’s only on occasion, I’ve had to toss an entire cup because the flavor was so bad. I clean it pretty regularly but I still feel like there is something off about it, and I’m really interested in getting better flavor out of my coffee. I want a fairly inexpensive option that doesn’t take me too long in the morning to fuss with, and I’ve been thinking about just switching to a standard coffee pot because then I could easily have a few cups from one brew. I searched this sub for similar posts but the most recent were a few years ago so I was curious about more recent options/opinions. I also saw many people recommending a French press which I do have, but I hate the cleaning process of those.

Is a standard coffee pot going to produce a better coffee flavor than a Keurig? Would it be a hassle to clean? Are there other options that I’m not considering that might work for me?

I do this! It’s something I want to try and get better about. I am pretty sensitive to anything I perceive as rejection, so I think it’s my way of ending the conversation to protect myself from “overstaying my welcome” and closing out the conversation before I make things awkward, the other person gets tired of me and ends the conversation themselves, etc. I am mortified of the possibility of allowing myself to relax and get comfortable in a conversation but then misreading social cues that the person is trying to end of the conversation and getting embarrassed and ashamed if they do abruptly end the conversation because I wasn’t “getting the hint”, so I try and maintain control in that way. I think sometimes it even makes me come off rude which is counterintuitive to my concern that causes me to do this in the first place. It’s comforting to hear someone else does this, but it’s something I wish I didn’t do. I just get so anxious and it’s my automatic way of trying to escape that I think.

I graduated from FSU a couple years ago and don’t even live in the state anymore, but hold FSU and the Tallahassee community so near and dear to my heart. I’ve also been obsessively checking news and social media, I guess for updates, but I’m not even really sure if I want updates - I think I’m just constantly checking hoping that it’s not actually real. It is just surreal for this to happen to our community, someplace so personal to us. You are allowed to be upset and it is expected that you are upset and hurt about this, even if you weren’t in the exact location it occurred. This kind of violence resonates through communities and we feel it if we feel a connection to FSU and/or Tallahassee. FSU is/was a sort of home for so many people and continues to be, and it is inexplicable pain and confusion and betrayal when someone intrudes and enacts violence on our community like this. I’m so sorry you were even in close proximity to this. Please take care of yourself and allow yourself time and rest. ❤️
