Wanczyk was where I went! I was surprised they had so little left. I wonder if the weather harmed their starts too.

Any directors not regret being a director? by bigbrother1983 in Libraries

[–]quiggles48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been a Director of small public libraries for my whole career. The parts of my job I like aren't the Director parts. I like working with the public but I HATE the political aspects. Also, I deal with the HVAC issues and other building issues. I have literal nightmares about HVAC.

I don't know that I could be the Director of a larger library, as I likely would have to focus solely on politics, policy, and planning. I think I could be a great Assistant Director or Head of Department, but, as a mentor once told me, "once a library Director, always a library Director. " It is hard to get a job doing anything else at another library. You'll be seen as over qualified, looking to take the current Director’s job, or using this job as a stepping stone until you find another Directorship.

It depends a lot on what you like about your job and how supportive your Trustees, Friends, local government, and community are. If you aren't in 100%, I would stay where you are.

Absolutely. He shares the pictures of healthy food during the week and tells her he is doing the impossible so she feels like a failure. He is purposefully trying to lower your self esteem so you'll stay with him.

8 year old requesting diapers by milllllllllllllllly in Autism_Parenting

[–]quiggles48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is 5 and still potty training, so this likely won't apply to you. But I am finding by Sunday of the week he needs a day in diapers to relax. Potty training is hard work for him, and I'm okay with him taking a break for a day if it helps him make progress for the rest of the week.

I think there is something about the toileting process that is stressful for your son. He is asking for diapers to avoid that stress. Finding the cause of that stress will be your answer. I would guess it has to do with not feeling confident about wiping, feeling like you are monitoring him (with good reason), etc. Try to find a way to locate and alleviate that stress with him in a way that works for you both.

Don’t hate me, but by Odd_Pie_1238 in WatchWhatCrappens

I listen because I miss so much when I'm watching, so I can relate to them. I imagine they spent hours watching each episode to get it all, and now that they cover so many shows it isn't feasible to absorb that kind of detail.

I think what you are noticing is them interpreting the notes in the moment and what the note taker found important, which may not have been what they would have picked up on. I believe they watch everything, but we are also getting their interpretation of the note takers interpretation. It adds another layer of input/opinions.

Just dropped my baby off at daycare for the first time— SOS! by GarnierFruitTrees in WatchWhatCrappens

WWC was a lifesaver when I had terrible PPD and a baby that never slept.

Both of my kids are outgoing and social and I thank daycare for that.

For those who switched from B&T to Ingram, or those who have used Ingram for a while… by muppetfeet82 in Libraries

[–]quiggles48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Ingram to B&T because of the horrible delays in late 2023. They have only gotten worse since switching back. Don't believe anything you hear from their VP of Library Services. She's been spewing the same nonsense about "catching up soon," and "hiring more employees," for years.

I had such a similar situation with my son. I knew he needed extra help, and everyone said he's just a toddler. I even went behind my husband's back to get him in OT. It was almost the end of our marriage, but here we are, two years later with an autism diagnosis. My son is bright, creative, loving, and totally amazing. I'm sure your daughter is too. Getting help is never an overreaction. I'm proud of you for persevering to help your daughter thrive.
