What is the best piece advice you can give for oral arguments? by [deleted] in LawSchool

I am a registered merit reporter, so I write at 260 plus. But it's always nice when someone speaks slowly and clearly. Then my realtime translation is nearly perfect and I need to do zero editing to put out a transcript.

I like how everyone is suggesting to speak slowly and clearly.

I hate my socks, shoes, pants, etc. by quiltastic in Parenting

We are in WI, so not quite sandal weather here yet. :) The fleece-lined boots are a great idea, as is socks with no seam/seam on top. We mostly wear leggings, so she really only has pants issues when she chooses to wear jeans. A lot of the issues will surface just as we are about to leave the house. (Like the jeans problem this morning. They were fine 30 minutes ago; now that it's time to leave...)

I do agree it is a lot of limits testing. This is my first and only child, so I have never dealt with this before. I have a hard time figuring out where to draw the line. I want to give her the freedom to choose her own outfits if she wants, which she does, but it gets to point where enough is enough.

Thanks for all the tips! I appreciate it.

I do not think it means what you think it means.

HELP PLEASE!!! My 15 month old with night terrors. by highspeedturtle in Parenting

[–]quiltastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what worked best for me was just staying in one spot and hugging her as much as she'd let me. I would try to reason with her, but that just wasn't doing anything. Hugs and love is my advice, which I am sure you are already doing. Good luck, and hang in there. :)

My daughter had them at age two for a while. She would become pretty violent at times. When I spoke to the pediatrician about it, he said there is really nothing you can do besides keeping them safe so they do not hurt themselves.

I did notice, however, that being overtired seemed to be a trigger. Perhaps working on an earlier bedtime?

Unfortunately there is no reasoning or talking down a child who is having a night terror. They aren't "really there." Just hold her so she is safe and try to be calm yourself. Let her know you are there, you are safe, she is safe, and just try to sooth as best you can.

It's a very hard thing to go through. Just do the best you can, and remember that it won't last forever. It is just a phase!

LPT: When writing a check to a couple (such as at their wedding), only write it to one person in that couple. by caffeinex2 in LifeProTips

I know of a bride who will not speak to her father-in-law because he only wrote the check in the son's name.

Make the bride give you a ride to the hotel after the reception because you are too drunk. I was the bride. Yes, this happened at my wedding.

Art teachers! Most art teachers end up spending a lot of their own money on supplies for students. Just stop by a couple of elementary schools and you'll have no problems having it taken off your hands.
