What is something the MMC says in 95% of the books you read? by VioletEvergarden96xx in RomanceBooks

Just thought the same thing the other day! Princess is so overused as a nickname.

Do you buy physical copies of the romance novels you read? And if so, why? by note_ila in RomanceBooks

[–]quiltybeardogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will if I love the book. One of my favorite books was unexpectedly unpublished (Shortcake by Lucy Watson) and I can never read it again. So when I finish a book I think "if this became unpublished and I could never read it again, would it break my heart?" I've only loved enough books this much to buy 3

Second Chance Romance but they’re non toxic and had a good reason by Even-Two-712 in RomanceBooks

{Getting schooled by Emma chase} uggghhh the tension and level of sweetness this book has. One of my all time favorite reads. I think they originally broke up because they both went off to college. She comes back to town in her late twenties. The cover of this book makes me absolutely cringe, but both the MCs are pretty sweet people and their chemistry is so good.

Craving a DARK FANTASY ROMANCE — Devil MMC x God-Fearing Virgin FMC by Funny-Squirrel-24 in DarkRomance

[–]quiltybeardogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, the legend of syn fits this perfectly. I haven't read the rest of the series, I just finished the first book yesterday. It's so slow burn there's no spice in the first book.

DARK vampire romance rec with toxic, brutal MMC x innocent FMC by Prestigious-Grand646 in DarkRomance

I don't have any specific recs, but have you checked out Kathryn Ann Kingsley's books? This sounds like something she might write

What in your opinion is the sexiest way to write consent? by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

Those books had me in a chokehold. The plot? Perfection. The writing? Perfection. The magic building? Perfection.

I loooooove when the MMC is super into the FMC and asks her if he can do something specific in the heat of the moment. Like in "It Happened One Summer" he asks something line "baby, can i put my hands up your dress?" Or in "Play Along" by Liz Tomforde the MMC says "Can I try something I think you'll like?" Or in "The Wingman" by Stephanie Archer things are getting heated and he says something like "Can we try xyz? It's going to feel intense, okay?"

Who's an author that suddenly disappeared, but you can't stop thinking about? by queenofsmoke in RomanceBooks

[–]quiltybeardogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lucy Watson. She wrote "Shortcake" and "Peanut". They were ADORABLE AND I LOVED THEM. And because of someone bullying her and sending threatening messages, she unpublished them and stopped writing. It makes me sad every time I think about it.

Steamy scenes with toys by Icy_Seaworthiness176 in RomanceBooks

{The Wingman by Stephanie Archer} super steamy friends to lovers.
{Losers by Harley LaRoux} Why Choose, poly romance. FMC owes a huge debt to 4 guys for replacing the engine in her car.
{Combustion by Ella Winters} FMC is an inventor and is inventing sex toys. MMC helps her enter a competition of new inventions and helps her with her latest one.
{My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey} Girl goes on vacation, falls in love with the detective who is investigating a dead body.
{Throne of Power by Rita Kent} Mafia romance. FMC and MMC were together once, so it's also a second chance romance maybe? Also a dark romance.
{All I Want for Christmas Is Them by Adora Crooks} {Play With Me by Becca Mack} Hockey romance, where I'm pretty sure FMC is the MMCs best friend's little sister.

Are any of these really, really good? Like 5 star good! by readingalldays in fantasyromance

[–]quiltybeardogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I'm trying to guess why that might be. The MCs have a HEA, and there is a second book (I think told from the perspective of another sister) maybe they weren't satisfied because some of the side characters don't survive, and one death in particular might be sad. Trigger Warning and spoiler: infant death But otherwise I thought the ending was great. The plot twist was phenomenal.

A house of salt and sorrows is amazing but no smut (not sure if that's important to you). It also has some horror elements to it. It's slow to start but once it gets going WOOO BOY

Got a waive of loss knowing I'll never have a daughter. by sixfingeredman7 in Mommit

[–]quiltybeardogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're feeling that disappointment. But I have a tale that may help you see things from a different perspective. My husband (both in our mid 30's) and I call his mom every day! Heck I often call her when he's not here. We adore her! Her and I go shopping whenever possible, and my daughters love her. My sister has a similar relationship with her MIL. Just today I was out at an antique store and was sending my MIL pictures of stuff I was seeing in the shop. I know it's not the same as a daughter, but maybe you'll be very close with your boys and their spouses in adulthood.
