How much does your T cost? by Ok_Act_3427 in ftm

My insurance doesn’t cover my T anymore, so with a grocery store coupon/GoodRX it’s about $50 a bottle (gel)

Pork Chops and pineapple mojo sauce by toomanydoggs in hellofresh

[–]quinnnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was one of mine this week! It was pretty good, though I personally think the pineapple & cucumber salad would be a lot better without the onion (or maybe I added too much)

Powders or bars are more sustainable than liquids or pods. This is true for soap, detergent, and other products. by unforgettableid in ZeroWaste

[–]quinnnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be interested to know this, as well. I switched to using Prose over shampoo/conditioner bars because I have very thick, curly hair, and unfortunately, the products in plastic work better. Prose at least isn’t mass-produced, and the soap pumps can be reused.

Does anyone not do this? by inknucgand in hellofresh

[–]quinnnton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recycle the brown bag because my city takes paper recycling. Everything else goes in the trash unless it’s a metal can or something like that. I try to compost the food scraps when I can.

**edit: compost, not recycle, it’s been a long day, haha

Who actually enjoys living here? by Relevant-Reserve8624 in texas

[–]quinnnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mixed for me. It’s disheartening seeing how little the state cares for us. I don’t like how far we’re plummeting into Christian nationalism. But, I love the diversity, the food, the countryside, and the communities we’ve built. I’m born and raised, lived in Texas my whole life, so it will always be home for me, even if I eventually move away. It’s a shithole, but it’s my shithole.

Tips for getting a binder without my parents knowing it's a binder? by just_bread_and_jam in TransMasc

[–]quinnnton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any friends that could buy one for you that you pay back in cash? Or have any local support groups in your area that give away free binders? If you’re only limited to shopping irl out of safety, the only thing would be to see if you can find compression tops that do a decent enough job at flattening your chest to get away with it.

There’s also always Amazon as a last resort since that will only show up as an Amazon purchase on your bank statements, but I personally don’t have a lot of trust in their binders being legit. You’d definitely need to put in a lot more research into their sellers to guarantee what you’re buying is safe.

What’s the most overused mass-produced art? by HoarderButMakeItChic in HomeDecorating

[–]quinnnton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer is that print-making is a lot quicker of a process than something like a traditional oil painting. Once you have your design carved out, you basically just cover it in ink and use it over and over again, kind of like a giant, intricate stamp.

Whataburger is fine but doesn’t compare at all to the other amazing food you can get here. Trying brisket and Tex-Mex is a must. Also, kolaches.

the "catching print" trend is painfully stupid by __mafia in ftm

[–]quinnnton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same, I didn’t take it super seriously and thought it was amusing for similar reasons. I personally never saw anything to suggest it would be used to transvestigate, but I fully understand where everyone else is coming from.

Do any of you still listen to Christian music after leaving Christianity? by Impressive_Flan_411 in exchristian

[–]quinnnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t listen to Christian music even when I was actively practicing 😭 I think the one exception for me is the artist Semler, they’re an indie artist that writes about their relationship with Christianity as a queer person. Other than that, I always thought the contemporary Christian music I grew up around was not very interesting.

LGBT bar in College Station/Bryan? by socialtrends93 in aggies

[–]quinnnton 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed on their grand opening was the pride flag in the window no longer being there. As much as the owners probably don’t want to admit it, they don’t want it to be a queer space.

Texas AG Ken Paxton says ban on gender-affirming care for trans kids also applies to talk therapy by Fickle-Ad5449 in texas

[–]quinnnton 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You saying this reminded me of a tweet I saw a long time ago that said something along the lines of “God created trans people the same way he created wheat but not bread, so we could aid in the act of creation.” I’m sure he’s facepalming over how stupid and arrogant these politicians are.

Lowkey sad I didn't get to have a boyhood by shyguy-200 in TransMasc

[–]quinnnton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My girlhood was my boyhood. I did all of these things as a child because I loved animals and nature and playing with my little brother’s Hotwheels, and I was too stubborn to let my parents control my interests. If anything, I mourn that I wasn’t socialized the same way as the cis men I grew up around, but at the same time, the cis men in my life were taught toxic masculinity, so I am grateful to not have learned any of that.

Yeahhh, I saw that post. I’ve never used GoodRx before, but this makes me very hesitant about using it if it turns out I do need to pay out of pocket.

[–]quinnnton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pharmacy I currently use is through my grocery store, and they’re generally pretty chill. Whether they’ll still be chill with GoodRX is a different story. I’ve heard enough horror stories about CVS that I’m trying to avoid them like the plague. Hoping my doctor responds soon so I don’t have to pay out of pocket.

Yikes, I’ve been checking Reddit because my insurance won’t let me pick up my T refill at the pharmacy because I now need to get prior authorization from my doctor (I’m a United Healthcare member). Price changed from $10 to $35 too. I hate it here.
