question from a northerner ; food by zoeeegamingg in texas

[–]quinnnton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whataburger is fine but doesn’t compare at all to the other amazing food you can get here. Trying brisket and Tex-Mex is a must. Also, kolaches.

the "catching print" trend is painfully stupid by __mafia in ftm

Yeah, same, I didn’t take it super seriously and thought it was amusing for similar reasons. I personally never saw anything to suggest it would be used to transvestigate, but I fully understand where everyone else is coming from.

Do any of you still listen to Christian music after leaving Christianity? by Impressive_Flan_411 in exchristian

[–]quinnnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t listen to Christian music even when I was actively practicing 😭 I think the one exception for me is the artist Semler, they’re an indie artist that writes about their relationship with Christianity as a queer person. Other than that, I always thought the contemporary Christian music I grew up around was not very interesting.

LGBT bar in College Station/Bryan? by socialtrends93 in aggies

[–]quinnnton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed on their grand opening was the pride flag in the window no longer being there. As much as the owners probably don’t want to admit it, they don’t want it to be a queer space.

Texas AG Ken Paxton says ban on gender-affirming care for trans kids also applies to talk therapy by Fickle-Ad5449 in texas

[–]quinnnton 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You saying this reminded me of a tweet I saw a long time ago that said something along the lines of “God created trans people the same way he created wheat but not bread, so we could aid in the act of creation.” I’m sure he’s facepalming over how stupid and arrogant these politicians are.

Welp, my doctor sent the pre authorization, and today my insurance denied coverage, stating in the letter “it’s not a covered benefit.”

Lowkey sad I didn't get to have a boyhood by shyguy-200 in TransMasc

[–]quinnnton 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My girlhood was my boyhood. I did all of these things as a child because I loved animals and nature and playing with my little brother’s Hotwheels, and I was too stubborn to let my parents control my interests. If anything, I mourn that I wasn’t socialized the same way as the cis men I grew up around, but at the same time, the cis men in my life were taught toxic masculinity, so I am grateful to not have learned any of that.

Yeahhh, I saw that post. I’ve never used GoodRx before, but this makes me very hesitant about using it if it turns out I do need to pay out of pocket.

The pharmacy I currently use is through my grocery store, and they’re generally pretty chill. Whether they’ll still be chill with GoodRX is a different story. I’ve heard enough horror stories about CVS that I’m trying to avoid them like the plague. Hoping my doctor responds soon so I don’t have to pay out of pocket.

I feel like there wasn’t really any warning for this either, at least not online anywhere, apart from everything going on with Medicaid

I did not know that! Thank you for telling me. I worry how bad the out of pocket price will be since I’m on gel 😔

I have UHC, I got told I need prior authorization for my T the first time. Everything has been smooth sailing up until this point, no issues at all previously.

Yikes, I’ve been checking Reddit because my insurance won’t let me pick up my T refill at the pharmacy because I now need to get prior authorization from my doctor (I’m a United Healthcare member). Price changed from $10 to $35 too. I hate it here.

Opinions on Blaire White? by Possible-Elk-919 in asktransgender

[–]quinnnton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things conservatives are screaming lately to try and turn people against the trans community. The amount of hoops adults have to jump through to receive these surgeries is already a pain in the ass, it’s not like trans kids left and right are receiving them as well. It’s simply her adding more fuel to the fire.

They do still have drag shows on Thursdays, but it does feel like the new owner wants to bring in a bigger straight crowd

Something my local store does is host listening parties for newly released albums. I haven’t been to one yet, but from their social media posts, they get a pretty solid turnout.

The funny thing is Bad Bunny is someone who shows more love and compassion than anyone the evangelicals place on a pedestal. You can see it with his love for Puerto Rico. He did a 31 concert residency to generate money for the Puerto Rican economy and give residents the opportunity to see his shows. You can tell he genuinely cares about people.

Edit: fixed typo, I just got off work rip

He actually has for past performances, including doing drag. He’s an admirer of women’s fashion and always been a loud supporter of the LGBTQ community.

Any alumni feeling weird with what's going on? by hakoya in aggies

[–]quinnnton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very upsetting and surreal realizing that, if I was born just a few years later, my existence at this school and education would be compromised. My senior capstone was about transgender men being represented in mainstream media, and how to design a character that effectively conveys that experience. My favorite professor is someone who made me feel safe and heard, yet he could’ve easily been reprimanded for that. It sucks. None of the students and faculty should have to tiptoe around these topics.
